connection error

Post by SSLConf_Yolo911 »

I have been playing this game since it was first released (Order of Battle: WWII). last night I was playing a Multiplayer Game
and everything was fine. Today when I try to log in to MP I get a connection error. It says my account has not been activated.

Every day it's something different. I wish I had a nuclear weapon.

Do you have any idea why it decided after all of these years that my account wasn't activated?

And what crap do I have to go through today to get this thing to work;/

Does anyone at Slitherine know why after years of playing this game, I get this message when logging into Multiplayer?

CONNECTION ERROR--
SORRY- THIS ACCOUNT HAS NOT BEEN ACTIVATED

Hi,

Just wondering if you have made any progress looking
Into this problem? What could cause my account to be
deactivated?

Hi,

Yes it is fixed, thank you.

Only other issue is that when my opponent, Elijahkellog, completes a MP turn , Crossroads in Burma, I do not get an automatic email notification.

If this is happening just with that game, then it can be just a glitch.

It is the only active game at the moment. So I can't say for sure. If I get any additional info or if I get another game going
and the email works (or doesn't work) I will let you know.

Thank you

VPaulus--

I am playing a second game with a different opponent and he receives email notification when I have completed
my turn but I still don't receive any when he finishes his turn.

This game is Two Bridges and my opponent is texassundown.

SO it is occurring for every one of my games.

I believe the issue is related with a duplicated account. Don't you have an account named MemoryLeak as well?

that is me at matrixgames. please don't delete that one. that is my original. I never did understand the merging stuff. You guys always do make everything more complicated than other sites.

I guess i'll just have to live with this issue.

and is there trick to accepting a challenge in skirmish mode? texzssundown told me he created a game, called Mongolian plains.

it doesn't show up in my all games list.

No MemoryLeak is not only a Matrix Games account, and this is not related with the merging accounts process. The merging account is a complicated issue, because Matrix Games was build in another programming language than the Slitherine one. Please note that Matrix Games and Slitherine were not always the same company.
The issue is that you have registered two Slitherine accounts for some reason, Yolo911 (24 Apr 2013) and MemoryLeak (22 Jun 2007). One of them have to go, or you can have other further issues. You can rename Memoryleak to Yolo911, unless youa re attached to that username.

I'm sorry, for that issue I can't help.

Its very strange. I've played a lot of OOB MP games without a hitch and now nothing but problems.
I always got email notifications when it was my turn.

And I know that you were separate companies. I was dealing with matrixgames long before Slitherine came along.

We are gradually merging the sites and their software, so discrepancies like this (having two accounts) will be more problematic in the future.
So the way to fix the issue (and future issues) is to have only one account instead of two.
Again, are you attached to the MemoryLeak username that you don't want to rename it?

I'd like to keep Memory Leak because it is the first account I established with Matrix back in December 2000. So if you have to delete one I guess
it should be yolo911. But I would very much appreciate it if you can transfer my "B" for Beta Tester to the Memory Leak Multiplayer log in.

Well, you wouldn't loose any seniority, the only thing that would change would be the name...

We don't delete accounts, we lock them.

Could you please clarify, with what you mean with this?

We could always remerge the accounts and remove Slitherine MemoryLeak and replace it with Yolo911. We could try that.

Anyway, please contact support[at]slitherine.co.uk and mention this forum thread so that we can consolidate the accounts and remerge them.

I'm lost. Lets just not do anything and I will just live with not getting automatic email notifications when I have a turn pending.

The "B" shows up on my picture that is associated with the MP login for yolo911. It designates that I was at one time a beta tester(Morning Sun) and
I would like to keep that designator. I enjoyed being a beta tester and making a small contribution.
