Fall 1500 Turn
At the end of the turn Florence does not control any cities in their home country, so they are eliminated from the game.
The Fall 1500 Record sheet has been updated with the city count.

Note: It costs double the amount to disband, buy or convert major city garrisons. I didn't catch this until just now, and should have pointed this out earlier. Andre

Game is set up. Hopefully correctly.

pw - naples

Please note that I will be out of town for a week but will pick up next Wednesday.

Will, if you are unhappy with this just award the game to Naples.

Alan,

I've picked it up, looking forward to another exciting battle.

Will,

As Lascar and TGM also have a battle to fight I think we will be able to get a result in reasonable time. I would rather fight and lose than have you automatically award it to me. I joined this campaign to fight battles that had a bit more meaning that the normal random encounter.

I can see that. If I was playing in the campaign then I would enjoy every battle. Having said that, I think that the Money Lenders is too powerful. I will take constructive criticism of the game to heart and modify my version accordingly. In a campaign though, I don't have a solution for neighbours fighting repetitive battles other than to eliminate armies after a decisive loss. Armies aren't eliminated unless there is no retreat path.

Thanks but hanging seems somehow the appropriate term... But the Pope is enjoying the northern climate of Genoa.

I think that overall the game works very well. The only question that I have is that there seems to be little impact from losing a battle apart from retreat. The problem would be that any system for attrition requires book keeping and another burden on the GM. But given that we all want to have repeat battles anyway, we can just accept this and enjoy the consequence.

I'm afraid that the papal army had an off day in Naples and lost rather convincingly.

When we were 25% casualties each, I thought that I might have a chance but it was all illusion, or maybe delusion. Andre's heavy foot then smashed up my cavalry, destroyed a landskncht keil and my army collapsed. Well played, Naples, as ever. It was a good game and quite exciting in parts.

The battle for Naples is over.

The reinforced Neapolitan fleet fighting on land has defeated the Papal fleet defending Naples. The final score was 48% to 23%. His smaller force chose to defend but it was a fairly open plain with a small forest dividing his line of fortifications. As my units were smaller I had lots more and simply swamped his flanks, getting 2 or 3 units on to 1 and occasional flank charges.

The battle was fought in good spirits and Alan put up a stiff defense for quite some time, but neither luck nor numbers were on his side.

Summer 1501 Money Lender Repayments
Venice repaid the 9d owed.

Austria escaped the plague, but not the agents of the Money Lenders. Austria defaulted on the loan and failed to make the 17d payment. Military Orders are all changed to Hold for this turn, but Expense Orders are unaffected. Here are the Rebellion Rolls:
Hungary: 6; no rebellion.
Slavonia: 1; rebellion.
Austria: 4; no rebellion.
Carinthia: 5; no rebellion.
Swiss: 1; rebellion.

Summer 1501 Negotiations and Order Writing Phases
Three days should be enough time, so the deadline is the end of Saturday July 7th, or whenever all of the orders have been received.
