As we have the result of the battle for Ancona, can we move to the next phase of the campaign please. I'm keen to move on and see what happens

I'm sorry that I missed the combat results posting. I'll update everything so that we can move forward. It has been exciting so far.

The Papal Fleet 1 retreats to the Upper Adriatic, and the Turkish Army 1 now controls Ancona.

The final city count for Summer 1499 has been updated on the Record Sheet (page 5).

Fall 1499 Negotiations and Order Writing Phases
Since you have had lots of time to communicate while the Battle of Ancona raged, lets take 3 days to complete both phases: Orders are due at the end of Wed. Feb 21st. I will process the orders on Thursday.

Here is the Fall 1499 starting campaign map (no famine or plague this turn):

Let me guess: you were misled and misinformed.

I hope that everyone is having fun. There are a lot of twists & turns in this campaign game system

No, not misinformed, just outplayed on the battlefield.

One rules question, if you don't mind. I have a stray army in Modena. For them to take over the city do I need to give a particular order, eg to besiege or is it enough that they sit there on Hold orders?

"B" is the order to besiege a garrisoned fortified city. It takes two "B" orders on consecutive turns to take the city.

Not that there is anything wrong with the orders submitted so far, but remember that you can use your Fall military orders to maximize Spring 1500 revenue if you have nothing better to do.

Fixed revenue is derived from:
- each occupied sea 1d
- each controlled province 1d
- each controlled city or city point 1d

For example, don't leave a Fleet in a controlled coastal province when I can be at sea to gain 1d. Of course strategic considerations may trump economic ones.

Today, but I will not likely be processing the turn until 10:00 am tomorrow.

Still waiting for orders from Papacy. I will wait until 11:00 am today before processing orders.

The Battle of Milan
Milan sets up either an Open Battle or Defend scenario, because they started in the battle province. Milan has 1,200 FP and Venice has 1,400 FP. The additional 200 FP for the attacker is due to the support that Venice is receiving from Austria. Retreat paths: Florence to Trent, Milan to a Milan Garrison.

The Battle of Rome
Papacy sets up either an Open Battle or Defend scenario, because they started in the battle province. Papacy has 1,400 FP and Naples has 1,200 FP. The additional 200 FP for the defender is due to the support that Papacy is receiving from Florence. Retreat paths: Naples to Tivoli, Papacy to Rome Garrison.

Battle results are due in 15 days: at the end of Friday March 9, 2018.

Note that the Defend scenario will reduce the FP of the defender from that stated above. That is the cost of the defensive entrenchments.

There are two battles to be resolved, but here is the preliminary Spring 1500 map for advanced negotiations and planning:

You can estimate your Spring revenues and plan for your builds (a maximum of 1 military unit per city in a home province). Note that if you have an Army or Fleet in a province then you can still build a Garrison in an empty fortified city. Conversely, you can build an Army or Fleet in a province where there is already a Garrison.

The dogs of war have been unleashed....we look forward to this contest of arms.....we Spanish relish being outnumbered.....but 1,400 to 1,200 is nothing compared to our conquests of the Aztec and Inca empires. We doubt there is as much gold in Rome, but there are souls to be converted to the true (Spanish) church
