First of all, I must point out, that english is not my first language. So be forgiving, if something sounds wierd.
But since I like this little game so far, I would like to give some feedback, and aditionally post some ideas, that might enhance the game.
The good:
In my opinion, the game is well executed and I do enjoy it after playing some games.
I think, the mechanic, that you need to get the civil population on your side, in order to recieve information about the enemy, is very well thought out, especialy in combination with the PP points you need to earn through military successes.
The bad:
Theres nothing bad about the game, apart from the ugly 3D-Models and how you handle the fights between ground units and helicopters. I do know, that you are a small team and good looking 3D-Models cost money and take time, but if these where enhanced to an „up to date standard“, I would be willing to pay another €10,00. maybe for an enhanced /or deluxe edition).
Now to a really anoing point for me: the fight between cobra-helicopters and VC-Rifle Units
I had several games, where my „Huey-Cobras“ got damaged or even killed, by VC-Rifle Units. That really is absurd. Even though I can accept, that „huey-helicopters“ can get damaged by lucky shots, shooting down a gunship with a rifle is beyond any realism.
Apart from the cosmetics and the Cobra-helicopters“, I do have some wishes or suggestions for a „contend update“ or possibly some dlc‘s:
Maybe remove the „green barrets“ and replace them by an LRRP-Team that does the recon and on the other hand some military advisors, that train the ARVN-Units. Because as far as I am informed, the "green barrets" fought behind the enemy lines and where not supposed to be scouting units as it is represented in the game. Maybe I am wrong.
Speaking of recon, I would love to see some „loach helicopters“ for scouting purpose. Maybe give them a wide view distance, but only a small amout of fuel, so that the player can‘t scout the hole map with this little choppers.
Fuel Trucks
wouldn‘t it be better, to add some unarmored fuel trucks (M49 fuel servicing truck) to the game, instead of letting the engeniers do the job?
Swamp and Mountain Tiles.
I would really love to see additional terrain tiles like Swamps Mountains (that are only passable for Infantry).
Mortars:
Another thing, I would be happy about, are mortar teams, that could be deployed in „forward bases“. Let them have a reduced range and restrict them, so that they are only able to kill soft targets.
Ponton Brigde-Tiles
I would love to see a brigde tile, when the enginear is laying a road over a river.
Things like Hex-overlays, weather conditions and FoG are allready adressed in the coming update, so I will not mention these.
I could continiue my wish-list, but I already read, that things like "Marines" and "Brown Water Navy" are already mentioned in other threads.
Thats all for now.
In case my text contains unpolite phrases, I apologize, I dont want to be rude. I just want to thank the developers for this fun game, and hope, that they will extend this game in the future.
Finaly there is someone, who made a vietnam-strategy-game. Dont know, why everyone else is just developing WW2 games.
Thank you very much for your great work!
Best Regards

Re: Feedback: The good, the bad and the ugly
Firstly, thanks for the support
We had to test the concept and see if the game sold, the way it is currently performing means we will be working on V'66, which will address most of your feedback.
VC rifles don't attack the helos, only VC RPG squad's and NVA squads as both are armed with RPG's. Remember this is an abstract game on the Vietnam war, the shooting down of helos are more a game mechanic than a real depiction, the movement of which has to be restricted to keep the game balanced.
Yes, we have had a few comments on the GB's and LRRP, once again in game they actually represent a bit of both (training and recon), did not warrant splitting the units, having said that, now we have feedback on the game, going forward we want to introduce more unit types and I think these two will split out.
More units are on the cards , PBR's , Loaches , Bronco's , B-52 etc and yes trucks in general (incl Fuel) , we kept the number of units low to start to get the game balance right, a extremely tough task
Mortars are also on the list as well as bridge artwork.
Really appreciate all feedback and found your input valuable, thanks

Hello Vietnam65,
thanks for your reply.
Glad to hear, that enought costomers seem to buy and like your game. Even more, I am glad to hear, that you are planning to develop a enhanced version(with more unit types) in the future.
Keep up the good work. I will definetly buy your next game:-)
Regarding the Huey-Cobras getting hurt by VC-Rifle Units: It is indead the case, if you select the helicopter and click on the enemy unit, the helicopter moves into "close combat". After seeing a Video of this game on youtube, I realised what I had done wrong all the time. I was not aware, that you have to position the heli a hex away from the enemy, and than attack with the "attack Button" in order to avoid getting damaged. Before I've seen the Video, I thought, even though the Helicopter is only one hex away, he will not get harmed, because he is a flying Unit, that can not be reached by Groud-Units. Maybe you would like to consider to change the mechanic?
Best Regards

Re: Feedback: The good, the bad and the ugly
OK now I get it, the whole idea of the Cobra is to use it with indirect fire, so first find a target then got send the Cobra to engage from a stand off position, thereby maximum hit and no risk of damage, if you fly the Cobra into a VC / NVA close combat the combat strength of the Cobra is reduced as it should not be used like this, if we gave the Cobra full attack strength for both direct and indirect firing, the player would simply just buy Cobra's and we could call the game Cobra'65
It is all about balancing, and the Cobra is meant to be used as fire support , not search and destroy , hope that makes sense ....

Re: Feedback: The good, the bad and the ugly
The above doesn't apply to Hueys/Chinooks, they are only attacked by NVA and VC Rpg teams as they have not attack strength
Re: Feedback: The good, the bad and the ugly
Thanks for the clarification.
