Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament

Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament
These are probably the worst map graphics my tired old eyes have ever had to decipher. Spotting rough terrain is ridiculously hard as it looks just like open terrain
Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament
Hi
Because of some personal problems right now I am unable to play with any regularity, so regretfully I am forced to abandone the tournament.
Sorry for the inconveniences.

The tournament is already in progress, nearly at the end of its 4th round out of 5. There will no doubt be another tournament after that. The tournament page is here:Antonis1984 wrote:Hi, how can i compete to the tournament? Where should i check?

The old FOG1 veterans are doing very well in these automated tournaments. I won the first one, TheGrayMouser came second to Richard in the second one, and ianiow won the third one. And now klayeckles is routing everyone so far in the fourth competition. No pressure, Klay!
Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament
Just curious, how much of the playerbase is FoG1 guys?

I have no idea but I recognise 29 out of the 79 players that are entering the FOG2DL from FOG1. That is about 38% of the total.MikeC_81 wrote:Just curious, how much of the playerbase is FoG1 guys?

Thanks, was just curious in terms of how much "new blood" FoG2 is bringing in or not. Its depressing because I feel "table top" eque gaming is dying and dying real fast.stockwellpete wrote:I have no idea but I recognise 29 out of the 79 players that are entering the FOG2DL from FOG1. Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament
I just opened the new round battle. As I was scrolling around looking at the terrain. I got a swift neither side is willing to fight type message and the program closed. I then got an email confirming that the Battle had finished on turn 2.

Sorry for your difficulty.
So could you explain which of these rough terrain you find difficult to read against clear terrain and why.
Maybe we should return the shadows to the Northern European rocks though they were removed as they made it difficult to decifer units stood on top of them .. all just so much visual noise.
Thats the only thing that came up in beta which is when we test these things, and as a tired eyed, shortsighted 50+ year old myself I don't have any problem but its not my place to judge.

Well, the attachment graphics look good and distinct. Less so in the game, is my feeling ...

I find the desert graphics a little bit difficult, but everything else is fine.

Yes, that's it, I agree.

Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament
I think sometimes the surrounding 'open' squares and hill squares are a little too busy graphically causing the rough ground to not be as distinctive as it could be?
Re: Field of Glory II - Holiday 2017 Tournament
My 36 year old eyes have trouble with the desert stuff too. I mean if I need to know, and I pay attention, its clear what is rough and what is not. But you have to focus on it since some open tiles have some artifacts like small dunes or something. Certainly desert rough doesn't "pop" out like the other tilesets do.

The rough ground "feathers" into the open ground. It would look awful otherwise.ianiow wrote:I think sometimes the surrounding 'open' squares and hill squares are a little too busy graphically causing the rough ground to not be as distinctive as it could be?
