New Pike and Shot game?
I was wondering if we can expect the new Pike and Shot (Rome?) game this year? Pike and Shot is the best game I have seen in several years. I am definitely looking forward to the next game as well.

While i am taking this comment as a deadline hint ... i am even hoping this might be an "army" hint ... i would really love to have a "fantasy pike and shot"rbodleyscott wrote:The elves are feverishly working away.

With the elves, maybe he was hinting for a Christmas release? . I would prefer them to be Tolkein elves - forging the 'One Game to Rule Them All'! . I guess it rather depends on whether you think of RBS as Father Christmas or the Dark Lord?Adraeth wrote:While i am taking this comment as a deadline hint ... i am even hoping this might be an "army" hint ... i would really love to have a "fantasy pike and shot"rbodleyscott wrote:The elves are feverishly working away.
I think a fantasy mod would not be impossible.

Big Tolkien fan and love my fantasy rpg's but will be very disappointed if the elves bring us, uh, more elves. Much prefer a Roman Centurion or Prussian Grenadier.

I am pretty sure he was just using a well-trodden phrase. Don't read too much into it.

No worries here. I never expected to see a fantasy title. Second Punic War or Seven Years War however.

Too much reading between the lines.

I'm just trying to goad/trick Richard into saying something new about the game. Have been trying since before Christmas ...with no success.jomni wrote:Too much reading between the lines.
So there are gonna be elves in the game?

My fault, barristers are masters in reading between the linesjomni wrote:Too much reading between the lines.

It's not going to be called 'Victory and Glory' by any chance, is it?

Do believe it will be Romans and the like. Elves is presumably a reference to an aspiration to have some kind of release by Christmas, if all goes according to plan. Of course, with game development, all does not always go according to plan, so delays are possible, but I am sure we will be getting a great product, whatever it is and whenever it comes out.

Re: New Pike and Shot game?
Agree that ancients is a good bet given the original focus of Field of Glory. Richard Bodley Scott doesn't seem to be much into anything past 1700, although I'm sure a Napoleonic or American Civil War adaption would sell lots.
The real orphan in the above is 1700-1800, and especially the early 1700s which is badly covered in both computer and cardboard.

It is still based on the tabletop system but has further diverged to make more use of the advantages of the PC. The full feature set is yet to be announced. It is all new in terms of UI & graphics and fully 3D. It is written in the Archon engine.

Ancients does make sense. It does seem a bit weird to have two digital product lines based on FOG though. Ot maybe FOG2 is meant to supercede Pike and Shot as well?
Re: New Pike and Shot game?
Rome period would be great. I rather like P&S format than FoG one though.

Yes, Rome period would be great. But Seven Years War with some strategic dimension would be fantastic. And what about Napoleonics? A Napoleonic Game with this engine would be great...
Re: New Pike and Shot game?
Yep something like a new Crown of glory game with pike and shot engine for tactical battlesDieterNohlen wrote:Yes, Rome period would be great. But Seven Years War with some strategic dimension would be fantastic. And what about Napoleonics? A Napoleonic Game with this engine would be great...
