BrentBj whups me good 55/21 in the Highlands.
The rebels advanced chanting dour tunes in a strange accent. This annoyed the spaniels in our camp who set upon them with much snarling and biting. Being unable to stand up to this they turned and ran lead by their leader.*

I was able to defeat his cavalry on the wings and then turn inward and roll up his foot. A fun game.
Royalist 21 Covenanters 55.

Honourable Members of Parliament,

We wish to report that we have held the Mid-East against the invading malignants.

rbodleyscott (0%) (won? drew?) vs Aryaman (0%).

Wary of the increased firepower of the King's regiments of late, the Parliamentarian army advanced into an area of enclosed fields in the centre left flank of the battlefield, where we intended to withstand the onset of the King's Irish lackeys.

However, after making a fine show of advancing in the early stages of the day, Lord Aryaman then withdrew his regiments out of range of our light artillery, and the two armies then exchanged desultory long range artillery fire for the remainder of the day.

As night fell, the King's army withdrew, leaving our army holding the field and the Mid-East.

Congratulations BrentBJ, giving the Scots a thrashing is no mean feat after only a few of these campaign games.
You must have learnt much from your Lowland experience in '44

Mid West

Royalist victory

Turenne 50 % vs Cromwell 61 %

a bloodbath with the left cavalry wings routing their opponent and the royalist infantry slowly better than the parliamentarian

I am still waiting for Keyth to make an appearance. I would guess that ours would be the last game in this round.

My lads have marched around Nth Wales for some weeks in search of him.

Ill tidings. A report of a Royalist defeat in the North East. Ulysesgrunt 48, Doyley50 69.

The Royalist foot soon got into difficulty but it later seemed that the cavalier horse would turn the tide. Alas the end when it came was sudden and devastating.

Thanks for the hard fought battle Ulysesgrunt, and well played!

Many thanks to Doyley50.
His cavaliers almost pulled a victory from the jaws of defeat, but the Parliamentarian foot held out just long enough for the roundhead horse to return to the field and catch the committed cavaliers in the rear.

A glorious day for dour indeed!
To my fellow crop headed spaniel haters, good news from South Wales, a magnificent victory for Parliament

Deadtorius (13%) wins vs Lord Turenne (48%)

We are pleased to announce that numerous Spaniels were harmed in this stunning victory  The battle opened with the dour boys of Parliament setting up mostly behind a large patch of rough ground with our horse hidden well behind our foot out of harms way. The Kings forces were in a good position peeking out over numerous hedges and shouting insults while flicking their glorious locks in our general direction. We held an emergency prayer meeting and the good Lord bestowed his blessings upon us and told us "thou shalt not venture far into the open, make thine enemy come to you and they shall be smitten" Thus by divine intervention and some lucky artillery shots the Kings men moved up towards us. Their horse was on the flanks and though their left flank moved up originally, they changed their minds and fell back after taking some shooting from my dragoons and other foot units. Meanwhile the rest of the Royalist force of misguided ones came forth into the zone of death as the Lord did guide our lead towards their unholy hides. My rear ranks extended our left over to a set of woods and both sides began to rain death on the other with lead and fire. Although Lord Turenne did make some success in my center breaking a couple of my foot, I had managed to force him to give up his left and with divine help my boys managed to collapse his center. My cavalry form my right then moved into the rough ground try and get on the enemies flanks. I had a few flank charges all set to go forth and spread the feelings of dour but the royalist forces flowing locks began to stick to their heads from all that sweat and blood and with no locks flowing the royalist deemed it a better idea to grab what few spaniels they had left and return to the locker room for a hair washing session.
Across South Wales the bells tolled a great victory and we made a tidy profit on haircuts and dour black clothing.

Thank you Lord Turenne, it was a good game. I doff my bullet ridden hat to you fine sir, till next time Huzzah!!
