Downloading Community P&S Scenarios from the library

Post by rbodleyscott »

We are now adding community scenarios/campaigns to the Slitherine user content library, for ease of loading into the game.

All you have to do is

1) Select "Historical" from the main menu.
2) Select the "Download Community Scenarios" button at the top of the screen.
3) Select the scenario you want to load from the list in the User Contents Downloads window. The progress of the download is displayed.

Once the download is complete, when you go back to Historical you will find the downloaded SP scenario(s) in the list. (MP scenarios won't appear in the Historical list, but will appear in the MP lobby when you select New Challenge).

All scenarios/campaigns/mods listed here are available to download in game for both Pike & Shot: Campaigns and Pike & Shot, unless stated otherwise. If you wish to use them with both versions of the game, you will need to download them for each.

If you have developed any SP or MP scenarios you would like to have made available in this way, PM me.

User created SP scenarios currently available to download in game include: (Wikipedia articles included for a bit of additional background - not used for scenario research!).

Wars of the Roses

1) Wars of the Roses Campaign and Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot: Campaigns).
2) Wars of the Roses Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot).

The campaign is between Yorkists and Lancastrians, starting in 1455. The skirmish module covers Yorkist, Lancastrian, Richard III, Tudor and Yorkist Pretender armies from 1455 to 1500.

Extra Nations

1) Extra Nations Campaign and SP Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot: Campaigns) v2.
2) Extra Nations SP Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot) v2.
3) Extra Nations MP Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot: Campaigns & Pike and Shot) v2.

The campaign uses the same generic map as the vanilla Pike and Shot Campaign.

“This mod allows you to fight with armies that were not included in the original Pike and Shot game: The Irish, Anglo-Irish, Portuguese, Moroccans, Algerians, Dulkadir Emirate, Lithuanians, Moldavians, early Safavid Persians, White Sheep Turcomans, Uzbeks, the Khanate of Kazan, Crimean Tatars, Charles the Bold's Burgundians, the Monmouth Rebellion, Teutonic Knights, many Peasant armies, Georgians and the Mamluks. Together with some armies from the original game, that are included as they were traditional opponents of the added nations, such as the English, British, Spanish, Polish, Imperial, Hungarian, Swiss, Swabian League, Danish, Russians and Ottoman. Some of these have been changed or enhanced from the original game, with new units added and graphics updated.”

In v2: "Several major new armies added; Jacobite Irish, Jacobite Scots, Savoy, English Border Reivers, Scots Border Reivers, Venetians, Scots Covenanters, Bavaria, Prussia, Saxony, and Zaporozhian Cossacks."

FOG2 Gameplay Mods

Tercio to Salvo - FOG2 (SP and MP historical battles and skirmish)

Here is the list of features:
1) 'Push back', 'Fight Melee', 'Immediate Score' and 'Undo' options (remember, if you used the 'Undo' command, that unit is removed from 'Next Unmoved' option. So it will be better to move the unit again at once);
2) the mod includes fixes for the flaws of the original P&S based on FoG2 scripts:
a) charging enemy units that are beyond 45 degrees of straight ahead at the start of the move after a turn,
b) blocking of 2 units with ZoCs of each other when they are separated by two other units in close combat,
c) cavalry doesn't get +100 PoA vs the Mobs in open;
d) 'Mobs' cannot charge non-light cavalry;
3) 'Remove evader casualties' option;
4) FoG2 'Turn and Shoot' option.
5) FoG2 pursuit scripts: infantry who are neither Warriors nor Raw will not pursue. Keil never pursuits;
6) FoG2 option which does not take base AP for Fragmented unit below 6 AP unless base AP is less than 6.
7) Heavy Weapon is not cancelled vs non-steady foot who have pikes (also in Keil), spearmen or bayonet capability during the melee phase - 50%

All the features are listed in Read_me.txt files in each module.

Wars of the Roses

Wars of the Roses Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot: Campaigns & Pike and Shot).

This covers Yorkist, Lancastrian, Richard III, Tudor and Yorkist Pretender armies from 1455 to 1500.

Extra Nations

1) Extra Nations Campaign and SP Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot: Campaigns).
2) Extra Nations SP Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot).
3) Extra Nations MP Skirmish module (for Pike and Shot: Campaigns & Pike and Shot).

FOG2 Gameplay Mods adding FOG2 features. (Pike and Shot Campaigns only)

Age of Machiavelli - FOG2 (MP skirmish only)
Tercio to Salvo - FOG2 (SP and MP historical battles and skirmish)
Le Roi Soleil - FOG2 (MP skirmish only)

Here is the list of features:
1) 'Push back', 'Fight Melee', 'Immediate Score' and 'Undo' options (remember, if you used the 'Undo' command, that unit is removed from 'Next Unmoved' option. So it will be better to move the unit again at once);
2) the mod includes fixes for the flaws of the original P&S based on FoG2 scripts:
a) charging enemy units that are beyond 45 degrees of straight ahead at the start of the move after a turn,
b) blocking of 2 units with ZoCs of each other when they are separated by two other units in close combat,
c) cavalry doesn't get +100 PoA vs the Mobs in open;
d) 'Mobs' cannot charge non-light cavalry;
3) 'Remove evader casualties' option;
4) FoG2 'Turn and Shoot' option.
5) FoG2 pursuit scripts: infantry who are neither Warriors nor Raw will not pursue. Keil never pursuits;
6) FoG2 option which does not take base AP for Fragmented unit below 6 AP unless base AP is less than 6.
7) Heavy Weapon is not cancelled vs non-steady foot who have pikes (also in Keil), spearmen or bayonet capability during the melee phase - 50%

Some changes made in MP scenarios to equalize the chances of both players (only Tercio to Salvo MP module):
1) Dreux 1562 and Moncontour 1569 - I added a few points to buy all possible units at the start of these scenarios: +1 unit in each scenario.
2) Ivry 1590 - 5 Catholic Gendarmes units are removed, and 2 Huguenot Arquebusier units are replaced with 2 Early P&S ones.

All the features are listed in Read_me.txt files in each module.

It does appear to work, but I've noticed a couple of things:

1) On the Historical menu, Cropredy doesn't show Great Britain when you select it but the default map of Europe
2) none of the new downloadable scenarios appear to have mission info or visible victory conditions

...apologies if I've missed something obvious.

Still thoroughly enjoyable though, so thank you Warlord156.

Well they are user created scenarios so they have whatever the creator has provided. In the absence of customized intro maps, for example, default maps are used.

These particular scenarios were created entirely in the editor and do not have scenario scripts.

In fact the game defaults to using the standard victory conditions (40% and 25% more, or 60%) for scenarios without scripts, but the UI does not show it.
After the next update it will. (And will default to adjusted victory conditions for MP scenarios without scenario scripts).

Fair enough. In the case of Cropredy though it appears to be using the *wrong* default map.

Not a problem of course... purely cosmetic.

There is only one default map, hence it is the map of Europe.

Multiplayer versions of Roundway Down, 1st Newbury and Cropredy Bridge are now available on the FTP for download.

You download from the Historical screen as per SP downloads, but then when you go to the MP lobby they will be available for new challenges. Obviously the other player has to have downloaded the scenario too.

I've downloaded the Roundway Down scenario (no errors), but still can't accept the link for the MP scenario that you posted. Don't know if I did something wrong or the link is a dead relic for some reason...

Perhaps you successfully downloaded it. It disappears from the list once it is downloaded.

It is a MP scenario, so it does not appear in the SP Historical list. To find it, you need to select Multiplayer > My Challenges > New Challenge.

Kinsale scenario updated to v1.2.

Don't re-download it if you are in the middle of a game or you will get the "Scripts have changed" warning..

However, before you start a new game, delete the Kinsale folder from /Documents/My Games/PikeandShot/Multiplayer and redownload it.
