Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Dear anyone who can help,
After downloading the application from Steam I start up the Game by simply pressing PLAY Pandora and nothing appears. When I click on Manual, well that one appears. I have tried several things: restart Steam, restarting computer, stopping Avira and Spybot and Threatfire. No Windows Firewall. Stopping a lot of background applications. I see the Pandora.exe appearing in the task manager and disappearing quickly again.
Who has any suggestions for a solution?
Thanks in advance.
By the way, other games I play through Steam start up with no problem.

Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Please post a DxDiag report and the game log file.
Log files are stored in the following locations:
Windows Vista/7: "%APPDATA%\Proxy Studios\Pandora\"
Windows XP: "%APPDATA%\Proxy Studios\Pandora\"
Mac OS X: "/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Proxy Studios/Pandora/"
Linux: "/home/<user>/.config/Proxy Studios/Pandora/"
To obtain the DxDiag file:
1. click on "START" (on Windows 8 Press "Windows Key" + "R" and go to 3)
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. open the text file, copy the contents, and post along with your issue.

I answered in my original post.
Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Please install the game in a different folder than C:\Program Files (x86)\....
Install in a folder like for example C:\ Games\...... and check if the issue persists.
Check this video on how to create different Steam installation folders.

Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Open the folder where the game is installed and locate a subfolder named "Binaries". Open it and run "Pandora.exe".
Do you receive any error message?

Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Please try this suggestion from the developers:
Background Applications
Any applications running in the background may negatively affect Pandora. Certain applications can lead to more serious issues such as limited connectivity and game crashes. It is highly recommended that you close all background applications before launching Pandora to ensure the best performance and stability. After you are done playing, feel free to re-enable these applications.
Some applications may load when the operating system starts and are not obviously indicated. For example, they may not appear in the task bar but they may be among some of your active processes or services, using your system's resources. These programs may cause crashes and other difficulties when playing Pandora.
Please see Closing Background Applications below for instructions on disabling non-essential background programs and preventing background applications from silently loading when Windows starts.

Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Thanx, but I already did that. What about the error message I posted earlier?
Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
Hello,
The log file you posted seems to indicate that Steam (Steamworks specifically) is either not running or not detected as running. Please make sure everything is in order there. Perhaps reinstall Steam or make sure you start the game through Steam.
Besides that it also seems your graphics card unfortunately has only 128 MB VRAM, which is below minimum requirements. Even if the game starts you will have major issues with the frame rate.
Best regards,
Rok

Download and install the latest openAL drivers. I think they are version 2.1
Re: Game doesn't start after clicking PLAY Pandora
As the game says, the firewall can prevent the game from launching, or can freeze the game.
I just had enforced my protection,
and the game freezed when I wanted, once the game is launched, to start a new game.
It is for there are 3 .exe's to let go through the firewall (I don't remember exactly the names):
. the game
. the updater
. the server (what I had to add in let-go firewall list)

I think I found the solution for Pandora
I did everything that was said about how to get the game to run. I found the problem. The setting for the network is wrong. When you install the game it uses port 6142. I changed it to a smaller number (345) and the game is working now. I use Norton security and did have to make sure that the exe programs (Pandora, PandoraUpdater, PandoraServer) in the binaries folder of the game are set to trusted.
