Italiens in Endsige

Post by Steenv »

Looking at the world map, it seams like, you can import your Sandstorm Cor to Endsige, its this he case? Also will this give you Italians on the eastern front :-)

I guess hypothetically it could have been possible if the more loyal veteran Italian units stayed with their German comrades despite Italy quitting the alliance. It would be kind of like the Scandinavian units that joined despite their countries being strictly neutral or enemies of Germany. And OOB has some hypothetical aspects like the last few missions of Rising Sun and the US Pacific campaign invasion of Japan.

It is a little inconsistent since completing the Sandstorm campaign in an ahistorical Axis victory somehow still leads to the historical result of Italy's surrender in summer 1943.

This could be a reason to ask the Aristocrats to let the Italians continue into Endsieg. I think it would be fun having Italian units included and makes sense if Germany wins in Sandstorm.

Should be relatively easy to mod this ourselves. But you'll miss any "late-war" equipment/upgrades for the Italians, so I'm not sure this would be a good idea.

You would need to add the Italians as a core faction in the campaign file and add Italy as a faction with land/air command points and resource income in each of the scenarios you want them included. Fairly easy to do all tasks.
As Gabe says, the Italian unit upgrades stop at 1943, so they would be at a disadvantage fighting Allied units in 44-45.

Okay that makes sense. Maybe we have to sadly leave our Italian friends behind. The hapless M41 tanks, all dented up and missing rivets, would be like empty popcans waiting to be recycled in battle against tooled up, ferocious slavs.

I´ve touched on this in a earlier thread and also find it very disappointing to see our loyal Italian friends go, especially the heroes. It would also work wonders for diversity and replayability.

Regarding units, It should be no real bother to make a few more, but still the units available in ´43 would be fun to carry over to ´44 -´45. They have a tank that´s not unlike the panther and also a quite a few others that could go the distance. Also its disappointing only to get to play with these units for 1 or 2 scenarios in Sandstorm and then its over.

Yep you loose the Italians. Using a Sandstorm core in Endsiege puts you at a major disadvantage as you will start without any SS units, nor much in the way of any Research or Resource Points to add them. You can eventually add them in but it will suck resource points away from your regular core to do so, unlike what happens with a non sandstorm core where you at least start with some SS units and SS Resource points. Had they thought of it, the devs could have easilly have added the SS speciality and some resource points to an imported Sandstrorm Core with the explanation that you had been given them to replace your Italian units. But that probably would have been a lot to ask as there were inadequate funds and time allotted to even adequately test Endsieg adequately before it was released.

I think It could be great to replace SS with Italians when coming from Sandstorm. More diversity and replayability. But I think there should be more Italian units allowed (at a german reduction cost of course), as you should also be able to tranfer Italian air also.

Sandstorm import is broken as I see it now.
