Endsieg bug (more like a quirk)

Post by HobbesACW »

Hi folks, even though I hold all 5 secondary objectives in the second scenario I am told I only hold 2 of 3. When I exit the game and load my save I am the told I hold 5 of 3.

It's also a pain to try and upload images to this forum. But you get the idea :)

Bebro may comment further if he drops by but I think the reason why this occurs is because it's geared to Turn Start. This trigger is evaluated only at Turn Start (and it's looking for Scenario Turn Limit) so you may need to proceed to your next turn, or save and reload the scenario as you did, to see the counter update properly. Whereas, if the trigger event was set for Capture VP Event, then you would see the counter updated immediately, in the same turn. Of course, that's not the way it was designed, for a reason.

That's my theory.

So I think it's more of a quirk than a bug, hence my editing your Subject. And yes, you only get one shot at loading images in a post and don't preview it because that counts. Once you post or even preview, you cannot get back to the images to do anything with them in an edit.

I concur with everything, except the "reason" part. This issue - or rather quirk, like you call it - has been reported literally by every single beta tester and hasn't been changed regardless. Come on, terminator even provided an easy solution for it in his posts! Yes, it's only cosmetical, but why not? :? :?:

Well, it's kind of complicated in that they might need to take away the Link to Objective from that trigger, allowing it to be just evaluated at the end of the scenario, and have a separate counting trigger like I have seen done in the past.

Such as this, I believe. It doesn't actually do anything except set the counter for 3 VP, check it every time a VP is captured, and update the counter accordingly:

Again, the other trigger would not have the Link to Objective attached to it, to avoid any confusion.

Yes, yes ... complicated.... wink... as five clicks complicated ... wink...

You know that well-put kind words can hurt more than direct confrontation?

Another problem. Start of 3rd scenario (Smolensk 43).This commander is shown as being available but apart from this message there is no sign of him.

Edit: do you see the award Panther (5 strength). The guy is usually attached to it.

If not, can you pls. attach a save? That would allow me to see what's going on.

Save attached just before the start of the scenario. The message appears but no commander portrait is shown top right.

Checked - he is attached to the 5str core Panther mentioned in the message popup. So it's fine.
