Germany Grand Campaign - Scharnhorst Battlecruisers @ Narvik

Post by Navman2854 »

OK, I'm stumped. Played this scenario many times, can not keep the 2 battle cruisers alive or even have them accomplish much. I've tried keeping them on the move, too many destroyers that inflict torpedo damage especially when the Polish destroyers spawn. The battle cruisers don't inflict much damage on the destroyers. Maybe designed to be sacrificial bait? Any hints to make them at least useful? :?

They are not useful. Move it to the left behind the headland. There they can fight the destroyers. And put up an additional reconnaissance plane that you have in reserve. You'll increase the ships' visibility.

Thanks juansana, have to remember to try that next time. I assume there's a deeper water path? I'll have to pull that scenario up again and take a peek  I've used the 2 float planes, they were a little helpful at least.

Historically the battlecruisers were escorting the Narvik destroyers and then escaped west into the Atlantic.
Probably for a good reason :D

As you can see, Navman, the shipping lane is deep enough to save the battleships.
