Re: Erik's Battle of the Bulge Series
So I got all but two objectives In Race for Bastogne before time ran out. I neglected to observe that there was an objective in the far NW corner. One infantry guy came out of nowhere and re-took a town way behind my lines. That is one reason I got so fed up with Unity of Command -- you had to guard every square inch of territory that you took, otherwise some armor unit would come out of the blue and cut off your forward units, or even half your army. I find that quite tedious -- In this OoB game, you could have infantry come out the woods at any time in your rear area, which means the advancing armies must leave units behind to cover conquered areas to defend against the 1-in-10 chance that there will be an infantry unit slip out of the woods and into your objective.
BTW, I was playing v 1.2. Is that the most recent version? there was no snow in my battle.
Erik2, please keep it up. I can't believe you keep making these with all the squawking we do. Thank you so very much!

It happens in most wargames including OOB but it's historically realistic so we just have to grit our teeth and bear it, and regard it as a challenge to our awesome wargaming talents to protect our supply lines..conboy wrote:..In this OoB game, you could have infantry come out the woods at any time in your rear area, which means the advancing armies must leave units behind to cover conquered areas..

The US reinforcements may arrive at various map edge roads. Think of it as the edge of the Bulge.

OK I think I understand it now that you put it that way. I wouldn't complain about PvP opponent that did that.Erik2 wrote:The US reinforcements may arrive at various map edge roads. Think of it as the edge of the Bulge.
