I spend my free saturday morning trying to reinstall Order of Battle with all of the DLC's, according to the above (posted by Vpaulus on 5-12-2017). It annoyed me very much that it didnot work! The host program will not start (an endless black screen). So now none of my DLC's (I've got them all!) can be played. I leave it here. I am a gamer not a nerd and the "tour de force" needed to install Panzerkrieg has now left me with a wortless programm. That is a pitty because I liked Order of Battle.
:( Shame on Slitherine!

if you have got the game to the correct game state, eg 5.2.2, then now all you need to do is remove the settings folder, which will correct the black screen, then reinstall all the DLC now only once, then it will all be fixed and correct and you will have got the 64bit version and won't need to do it again

sorry about this, why not try staff support, it's there advice and also are the ones who wrote the solution and hotfix etc with the developers, or try it one more time, as it does work, as shown by all these who have tried it, and mostly succeeds first time, but yes agreed it's not perfect or ideal either and some have taken a second time to get it up and running, but atm it's the only way forward, as a new installer, will or would still mean a reinstall, as it's a new version and moves the game from 32bit for those who wish to go that way to a fully 64bit version and a Unity upgrade built in, i'm sorry as i'm out of other options to give or try
I am sorry for the issue and for the delay in fixing this, but this should now be fixed.
Provided you are looking for the 64-bit version and are not running a 32-bit version of Windows, please do the below:

1. Please go to the Documents folder for the game (Default: Documents\My Games\Order of Battle – WW2) and delete the folder called “Settings”.

2. Uninstall the both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the game and then go to the folder where the game was installed and ensure no files/folders remain

3. Download the file attached in this message "OoB_ClRegx64.zip".

4. Unzip the downloaded file and run the extracted file "OoB_ClRegx64.reg".

5. Allow the "program" to delete the Windows registry keys regarding the game.

6. Install 5.2.1 of the game from the link below and reinstall the game:
http://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/OrderOfB ... v5.2.1.zip

7. Reinstall all DLCs

8. Run the game and ensure that all DLCs are showing as unlocked and the game is working.

If you need to download your DLCs you can do it from the member’s area. Please see the forum post below which explains how to do this:
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4290024

Attachment (1)
once you have 5.2.1 and then 5.2.2 installed, so have to give the DLC another install, others don't but if you wish to try it, please re delete the settings folder before retrying etc

Also, it will say so at the bottom of the screen (for 64-bit and for PC download version; not sure about Steam and Mac):

Here's the deal, Private FvG: "Steady on. Buck up, soldier!" The thing is, nearly all of us seem to have made this transition. It was a bit rocky, but we are there. Barring a flaw in your device, you should be able to do so as well. Try it again, clear everything out and start over from scratch. Pay attention to each line of instructions and when they say to do something like "delete settings folder," do it! If you continue to have problems, post them in Tech Support.

yes also says this in the steam version, only posted mine for those who have issues with black screen, as they will have no way of checking if is or isn't as screen doesn't show message eg fully black on rebooting the game etc

steam is already the 64bit version if you have a 64bit O/S etc, and information given is only for the site version, not steam

Solved.
In my case the black window was caused by Bitdefender blocking an attempt to change a file in one of my protected folders. After I unblocked Order of Battle everything worked just fine!
So I am sorry to have blamed Slitherine for it.

I am glad that you heeded my drill sergeant advice, private. Well done. You are on your way to being promoted to corporal! :)

EDIT: I responded more seriously and thanked you for letting us know the good news in the "OoB 64 black screen" Tech Support thread where you also posted.
