Order of Battle returns to Asia with Burma Road!

Post by AlbertoC »

The Asian theater is back! This summer, lead the British defense of Burma against the Japanese invasion – Order of Battle: Burma Road is coming!

In this original and unique DLC, you will fight for the first time in the jungles of Burma, and organize a deep defense to stop the invading Japanese army. You guard the gateway to India, and they can’t be allowed through! Lead forces of both British and Indian conscripts, including the fearsome Chindit infantry, in a 13-scenario campaign! Fight in the sky, on the sea and on land, and command many new units, from 1942 to 1945, reliving the fall of Burma and its reconquest! Remember, Commando operations will be essential!

Encounter special Commanders including William Slim, leader of Britain's so-called "Forgotten Army". Fight alongside Brigadier Orde Wingate, mastermind behind the infamous Chindit operations, as you fight deep behind enemy Japanese lines to disrupt their command structure and supply lines. Re-take control of the skies over Burma with pilots such as Ace Elsdon.

The campaign also comes with a set of new Specializations, to reflect the theater and the strategies employed in those years.

We will tell you more of Burma Road in the weeks to come! Stay tuned!

Last but not least: if you'd like to give us a hand in polishing the game, feel free to join the beta. That would be really appreciated!

Great idea! An area that is hardly ever covered in wargaming. :D

I like the "from 1942 to 1945, reliving the fall of Burma and its reconquest!" I expect to be knocked back on my heels, hang on by my fingernails, turn the tides, and come back swinging my dukes! (If I survive in the first place.)

OOB has opened my eyes to many aspects of WWII with which I was not familiar at all. Such as - following the link to the DLC announcement page and noticing the scenario list - Operation Krohcol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Krohcol. I had no idea that the British were in any shape in December 1941 to launch an offensive of any scale in southeast Asia. Perhaps they actually weren't, as Operation Krohcol was a failure.

Will history be repeated in OOB's Operation Krohcol or will the Punjabis be victorious this time?

Was very excited to see this!
I've very much enjoyed this title, especially the opportunity to play campaigns in theatres not generally covered, such as the Chinese invasion of Japan.

Glad to see it continuing to get support!

To be honest, I never heard much about this campaign. But I might give it a try. Well, to the wikipedia and youtube, then !

I concur. This sounds amazing, especially with "fight on the sea", hopefully meaning a return to some sort of core navy, no matter how small.

13 scenarios also sound great - following the a bit disappointing only 9 scenario Kriegsmarine (which otherwise was fun).

13 scenarios do sound a bit short for a full 3 years of British fightning in the Pacific, which I expect cover the bloody fighting into India (Kohima and Imphal).

Hopefully this can be expanded and tied in in future installations with all the other exciting battles of the British India Command and British Pacific Fleet leading to a Grand Campaign of some sort and hopefully the other way around with the Japs.

@adherbal: So Horst was right. I think he pasted that list he dug from the files first back then after Kriegsmarine.

We hope to find more camouflage (personal or devarias units according to the weather), for various factions including Japan.

When will be the Release Date?...

The Italians will get a proper introduction into the game soon enough, but can't put any date on that yet :)

Congrats to the developers for keeping us guessing. Many of us initially thought this might be the next DLC but were then thrown off by the "Heavy Steel" previews.

Hope to beta test this and also hope a Japanese-perspective campaign is also in the works.

Glad to hear Italian forces are in the works. It'd be interesting to play out the Axis North Africa and the Mediterranean campaigns with a limited German core contingent supporting a largely Italian one. Rommel was at least nominally under Italian command for much of the campaign (although it didn't really work out that way in reality, of course).

This is good news. I was wanting a Burma campaign most of all cause it usually isn't included in WW2 games except in the open sandbox games like Hearts of Iron 4 and Gary Grisby World Divided.
A good scrap between the British & Japanese will be fun.
And a future Italian campaign would be fun too.

Excellent, I was hoping for a longer DLC and this seems to be the case. Also the Burma campaign looks interesting.
