Campaign Germany 1813
To encourage more people to play FOG N in Melbourne, I am umpiring a campaign loosely based on 1813. We have created some simple rules (4 pages long) with the focus on keeping complexity and admin to a minimum for players and umpire. There are 12 players representing the 4 major powers (no Swedes - yet! ).
To see the rules and map, as well as to follow weekly updates on the progress of the campaign, go to http://1813campaignloa.blogspot.com.au/?m=1
We had our first battle on Friday where Blucher gave Oudinot's cavalry corps a bloody nose. See a report on this battle at the same link. An interesting battle indeed trying to fight with an all cavalry force!

If you mean the rules for the campaign, yes you're welcome to them. I posted them in the blog under the heading "Germany 1813 - Campaign Map & Rules (a bit of a giveaway really )
There is also a behind the scenes campaign diary from turn 1.

We've had a one week campaign break due to holidays so some of us will be doing a Vitoria refight to see in 2013 and to ensure the Peninsular "sideshow" is not forgotten amidst the mighty events happening in Germany. Look out for after battle report and pics for that in a few days time.

Oh the suspense.... how will Blucher pull this one out of the muck, or does he hope the French cavalry all get stuck in lots of muck???
Sounds like quite the campaign so far, thanks for the reports.

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
Thanks for the positive feedback on the campaign and sorry for the lull in activity. We've had something of a phoney war over the last month while bigger battles were being fought at CanCon and then trying to find a date to fight the Battle for Berlin.
Anyway, here's the campaign update to 31 August 1813 (Turn 7) and the news is that Prussia has sued for peace! Read all about it as well as a report on the battle for Berlin here.

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
Great campaign, and good reporting.
Your work has inspired me to do somthing similar here in Auckland NZ, our own 1813 campaign to kick off after the Nationals at Easter.
We'll be using many of your ideas as a basis.
Thanks
Brett

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
Read report on turn 7... how devastating for all those proud Fraulein to see their brave men cut down by masses of foul smelling Froggies. I bet Blucher is ranting up a storm of nationalist slogans mixed with various curses after that battle. Too bad Berlin didn't still have walls At least York has managed to make a break for it.
Interesting to see that Saxony has taken advantage of the lack of French presence to quickly change sides, we shall see how this twist of fate works out in the end.
Thanks for the report and hopefully Austria and Russia will step it up in speed and take advantage of almost no Froggies about to stop them from taking the main French Depot
By the way is Prussia looking for a new Kaiser now???

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
Brett, glad to hear you are going to give the campaign thing a go as well. It's worked really well to get new players into FOG N and has been fun to run. By keeping things simple it hasn't involved too much work. On occasion I am in Auckland for work. I'll look you up for a game when I'm next in town.
And Deadtorius, the Prussians aren't looking for a new Kaiser. Napoleon is perfectly happy with the weak one they have

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
Alas no hidden assassins to take out the old Kaiser....i thought perhaps his wife might have taken over for him seeing as she was deemed more "manly" than he was back in 1806. Perhaps there should be a "Blucher for Kaiser" campaign started
Looks like things have really heated up, looking forward to hearing how the day of 3 battles works out...

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
The wait is over!
For battle reports on the 3 battles fought in the last week (all 4 Sept 1813, campaign time), go to these 3 posts. I suggest you read the Dahme report last.

I've moved the turns to be cover only 1 day campaign time (not 2 anymore) as all the armies are so close now that a lot could happen in a day.

Excellent reports, hope your intrepid reporters get some extra schnapps. Just when all seems to be going well for the French disaster strikes. Nice to see that there is an Austrian army out there that has had some luck, my own has been fairing badly lately.
Great campaign looking forward to seeing what the armies do next.

Re: Campaign Germany 1813
I was wondering the other day what had happened in your campaign. Glad to see "ponderous" Austria on the field of victory for a change. Too bad for Nappy that his horse flesh reserves have been severely decimated. Thanks for the reports and the nice pictures, and send my congratulations to a fellow Austrian commander and his Russian allies.
