Updated GS 2.1 Manuals 12/31/12 (PDF,iBook,Kindle Versions)

Post by amcdonel »

To All,

Updated manuals released and updated as of Dec 31, 2012!! The PDF version now includes hotlinks for the Table of Contents (ToC) entries.

I have posted the Grand Strategy 2.1 manuals to a website: http://www.gs-manual.org

This is being released independent of the GS devteam.

There are 3 versions of the manual for enthusiasts!! Normal PDF, then a .mobi version that works with Kindle and finally a .epub version that works with the iBook reader - at least it works on my iPad!! Instructions for how I loaded the new versions of these manuals is also at the website.

I have worked hard to achieve formatting that works across all three venues, but compromises were made. Therefore, on occasion the formatting will be off for 1 or more of the 3 separate formats.

As always - if you have corrections - please post a note to the GS Forum @ Slitherine. You can also post a PM to my Slitherine account @ "amcdonel". Much more - I would appreciate content on tactics, strategies and plain old explanations of how to do things in GS.

I hope you find the manual useful!!

Alec

Would it be possible to break the user's manual into two (or more) parts? I've tried downloading it 4 or 5 times now in both Firefox and Internet Explorer; but every time my adobe PDF reader crashes because I think the manual's too large.

Sure. I would like to see if others have the same issue. Have you tried either of the non PDF versions?

Don't try and open them up within the browser. Adobe barely likes to play well with itself, let alone other applications. If you right-click on the link and select "Save as..." it will let you download them to where you choose and then you can open them through acrobat directly (or use another reader program like Foxit).

Hi,

I went to the website using my iPad 3 (latest iOS version) I clicked on the link it downloaded to my iPad and then displayed to open in IBooks. It then saved it to iBooks.

I was connected by WiFi.

Where do you find? and how do you get version 2.1? If it's already out.

I have to thank you guys for this manual because now after reading through the almost 700 pages of it, the 150 page manual for The Operational Art of War III seems like a piece of cake and I will get right on it! :D

Well I am not sure I ever intended anyone to read the full thing :) It is more than half a reference resource for quick lookup!!

Which format did you use to read the manual?

Well, I did just skim quickly through the sections about how to make mods. It was the PDF version that I read. I saw the 3.0 manual but for now I'm acting like that doesn't even exist until it is actually released.
