Excellent! Thanks for sharing!!
Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
Someone recently PMed me asking for some icons in a screenshot I posted in another thread. Unfortunately, I still can't figure out how to post images in a PM. So I will post them here instead. The first is from McGuba's Battlefield Europe.
And this is a stock SdKfz 7 that I shaded a bit to look more gray.

Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
Oops, I did something wrong. Let's see if I can get the SdKfz 7 in a post.
Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
And a few more with the same shading. One is a stock icon (edit: I was wrong about that. I think the SdKfz 11 came from PHCAS' first mod), the rest are edited by me or possibly alterations of other contributors. I've collected so many that it's hard to keep track of who did what. Please forgive me if I do not properly credit you for your work.

And finally a copy/paste version of an SdKfz 2

New icons are always welcome! Thanks for sharing!
Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
I was looking through one of the dev diaries for PzC 2 and someone suggested making airfields more visible on the map. I can't tell you how many times times I've flown half-way across the map to re-fuel a plane only to discover there was an airfield only a couple hexes away but I couldn't see it because there was a big, fat Tiger parked on it.
So I added a windsock to the airfield tile to make it a bit more visible. Looks like this:
And here's the strategic map:

I was going to add the files that I had modified but they're too big, even zipped. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to post it to a file sharing site so I will only post the windsock.png here and you can add it if you want to the appropriate files.
Here's what it looks like on the airfield tile:

Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
I like the wind sock. Distinctive and simple.
Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
I was looking at McGuba's excellent Battlefield Europe mod and noticed that he had 2 versions of the SdKfz 7 flak vehicles; an early version and a later, armored version. After checking online, I realized the vanilla icon was for the armored version. I thought it would be good to have an icon for the early, unarmored version. I was satisfied with the results so I'll share them here:
Edit: Well, now I feel like a complete idiot! I don't know how I could go looking through all of McGuba's files and not realize that he already had the icons. Practically the same icons I spent all morning working on.
I will leave them posted so someone else doesn't make that same mistake. I won't bother editing the rest of the posts. My apologies to McGuba and whoever made the icons first.

And the AT version:

The SdKfz 7/2:

Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
In McGuba's mod (again, a most excellent mod!), he added more defense (ground, air & close) to the armored units, as well as increasing the cost.
Assuming both versions have the same amount of fuel (in real-life), I would also recommend decreasing the fuel value of the armored units due to the added weight of the armor. Same fuel + more weight = less distance traveled/re-fuel more often. To model that, you should decrease fuel value, IMO.
And finally, I would recommend increasing the move value of the unarmored units to 6. If an SdKfz 7 can tow a flakvierling @6 hexes / turn, I would assume it could carry one on the back just as fast.

Those recommendations are not meant for McGuba or as criticism of his mod! Those are just my recommendations for anyone who wants to add a little diversity to their eq file.
Edit: end of the idiocy

@lennis:
Thank you for the kind words; I'm glad you liked the icons. I only wish that I hadn't spent so much time making new icons when someone else had already made the same units.
I don't really have a full mod to share; I just like to take ideas from others and incorporate them into a mod for my own personal enjoyment. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I do like to try new ideas.
Here's an icon that I hope no one has made yet. It's a total what-if unit based on a model found online.

Re: Tinkering with mini-mods
With some of the big, world-war sized mods out there (looking at you, BE mod), I thought it would be good if it was possible to purchase units from more than just 5 countries. Turns out it is possible:
If anyone is interested, I can post a pic with a short how-to explanation. It only involves 1 file and is pretty simple.
