hi there! i couldn't find anything similar... here's my idea:
after playing tiller's panzer campaigns for some time now, i kinda like the background sounds (a little off and far away battlenoise) -
today, i started panzercorps for a little go and found the background missing and turned the 'music' back on(i remembered why i turned it off...). wow! music!! blah -
i copied the background sound from a tiller game into the panzercorps music folder, changed some filenames and YES!!! pretty cool and no idea why nobody had this idea before, or did someone?!
you don't have to buy a tiller game to try - just download and install the mius-demo and copy the 5 'Backg0.wav - Backg4.wav' from mius-media-folder into the panzercorps music folder, rename them to 'ingame1.wav - ingame5.wav' and enjoy!
cheers!

oops, forgot the link (anyone wanna try?):

Re: Background Sounds
Interesting... Thanks for the info!
Not sure I want to run an installer, but if they were already extracted I'd be happy to listen.

Re: Background Sounds
i can understand why - but i can't rip files from an official (commercial) installer either.
to be honest, i think the link is already too much... it's just an idea.

Actually, the Royal Hungarian Army - Turan Campaing mod has a very similar 'ambient' battle sounds mix to replace the stock music, which is indeed quite repetative and annoying after a while: http://slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=36969
And the upcoming Battlefield: Europe mod will have the same battlefield sounds to replace the stock music. This track was created by me by mixing some free to use battlefield sounds that I downloaded from youtube, with sound samples that I took from WW2 era news reels with the sounds of real weapons recorded that time.Features:
- command a Hungarian core army supported by German auxiliary forces
- more than 300 new or modified units, including prototypes and new transports
- campaign with 15 historical and 4 "what if" scenarios
- tutorial campaign is converted to a nation specific one
- modified UI, sounds, music, awards, historical and random heroes

Re: Background Sounds
Of all the things we seem to change and create for the game, sound seems to be the one thing that gets very little anttetion. Yet im guessing for some of us, me included, we play so much that what ever is running in the background would get tiring after a while lol

Fantastic idea, Chemkid. Amazing what a difference this little alteration makes to the ambience of the game. Thanks!
