Excellent variants of the ubiquitous Sherman tank! The "personalized" variant with all the extra stuff stored on the engine deck is very distinctive. Thumbs up!

Hi Asuser:
I wanted to share with you some references I found about "up-armored" Shermans... As the images caption reads:
Sherman in Okinawa 1945: Sherman tank, probably from Company C, 6th Tank Battalion, up-armored with side skirts made from LVT ramps and other pieces taken from wrecks. DML’s kit with scratched side skirts and hedgehog surfaces.
Here are the images, may be you get some inspiration...

Re: Pimp your icon!
Thanks for the feedback!
Additional there are the versions with the well known wading snorkel for tasks in Europe and Japan. Some wooden planks armor and side skirts:
Hopefully you have also scenarios or maps with the pacific theatre...

Re: Pimp your icon!
Excellent Asuser.............I have been planning and thinking about making some Shermans with the track armor. I have some really interesting wartime images and also some with concrete! It seems the Canadians were the most prolific track armor units I am seeing in wartime images. They literally covered their Shermans "head to toe". Guess they ran into too many Pak 40, PaK43 and other assorted 7.5cm and 8.8cm antitank cannon.
PS It is my understanding the Germans hated Fireflys and always targeted them. The Firefly in the picture has Pzr IV track armor on its turret.

Old Timer Panzer General fan. Maybe a Volksturm soldier now. Did they let Volksturm drive Panzers?

Re: Pimp your icon!
A couple more interesting pics.............Note the Sherman covered with German Panther track armor!
Don't know if the extra weight on the front of the Shermans justified the application, but I suppose even it deflected or softened even ONE 7.5cm or 8.8cm round that was a hit, it was worth it.

Re: Pimp your icon!
Thanks folks and you're welcome flak to give some new input! Nice pictures!
Yes indeed, there was a big fear about the antitank weapons of the Germans. Easy to use and mostly waiting behind the sand- or brickwall ... deadly powerful against
every vehicle at the frontline. It seems, there are endless variations of the Sherman theme.
We have to be careful not to overload the unit icon with too big sections of track armor.
Otherwise any other detail may disappear...

Oh yes I certainly know that too many details will ruin an unit icon. Also I frequently just do not put the details on a unit that it came with because they just look like a blob or blur.

Re: Pimp your icon!
Update of the Sherman Firefly...tracks, gun with better muzzle brake and white "snake line" (what a finger braking work), armor plates, new antennae, special insignias, track pieces armor and finally a so called "hessian tape" camo net around the barrel.
