I really like the Pionieres...
Nice to have a unit that still shows the transports. Well done and thank you!

Hello Stan... What do you think about this icon?stan23 wrote:Hello To All
Does anyone have a MG Team icon, one that has soldiers laying on the ground behind a MG?
MG34 or MG42 I don't think would matter.
Maybe regular and elite versions?

Hi Guille,
Me too! For a better identification we could use a pair of laying soldiers alone? Then add a ammo box please. That MG team should have a slightly higher defence values than the kneeling team...

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Thanks Razz! Next step: Making the masks and then, all the variants (SE, desert, etc...)
Asuser: Yes, it could be done, in fact I have thought about it, but found two problems:
A) I believe that the MG-34 or MG-42 could not be fired in its heavy machine gun configuration (that is, mounted with the tripod) from the prone position (so the icon will be two light machines guns only).
B) I could not figure how to avoid that the icon looks like two "cloned" (i.e. exactly identical in pose) soldier figures... But I think it still could be done if I think hard enough...
May be we will end having two alternative icons for the German MG team...

Yes, I understand!
Alternatively you could set a 'half kneeling' soldier with binoculars besides...looking for new targets...

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Being that the MG-34 and MG-42 were multipurpose machine guns... I thought why not make it as a "multipurpose" unit also! Eureka!
So, this machine gun unit would initially posess two "switches":
1) As HMG, more or less like HW infantry but mith more firepower (higher Soft Attack), more ammo, and less movement (move = 1), also may be a little more Ground defense. In this state, the unit could be classed as artillery with range 0 to allow it to make support fire to neighbouring units...
A question: will an artillery unit with range 0 give fire support to a nearby friendly unit? Anyone knows? I don't want to give this unit renge 1, because I think it would make it more powerful than it should.
2) As LMG (bipod mounted) alittle less firepower (soft attack) than the HMG state, but more mobile (move = 2), same ground defense as an infantry unit
Possibly, a third switch may be added:
3) A dug-in position with HMG, as a "last stand" position with same SA as 1) but higher defense, and movement = 0. This would be a "last stand" because if having zero move, the unit will surrender if it takes enough suppression.
Here are the candidates for 1) and 2) switch states.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
I like the MG icons - very neat.
If you fielded a heavy machine gun unit (rather than heavy weapons infantry) I could think you could reasonably give it range 1 and treat it as a form of artillery. In HMG role, it probably should have move 1 because of the set up required and extra ammo requirements compared with use as a light or medium MG. Some heavy machine guns could cause significant suppression and damage at quite remarkable ranges, so a range hero would represent one of those teams that could pick a great firing position and had superior gun laying skills. Alternatively assume that the hero has sufficient status to get three times the ammunition of the ordinary units and an extra ten spare gun barrels.
If you had switchable HMG/HW infantry you would have the same issue as switchable 88 - you can have a range hero when an AA unit, but not as an AT gun, so HMG can get a range hero but HW infantry gets +1 initiative.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Great job on the prone MG units! This is a very welcome addition, and as you've probably guessed, I like the switch idea very much.
Truth is, I've been looking for something like this for a while, so I may modify the prone idea for a set of icons I've been working on. Thanks again!

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Agustin: Oh yes! The S.M.84 is one of my "units in progress" as part of the big "Italian unit pack"... Easily, a slovak derivative icon can be made. You wil see results soon!
Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Sure, the Italians could use a proper SM.84 in the Battlefield mod in bebro's style, too. There is not enough bombers for them at the moment.
