If I complete UK 40, are there any effects or consequences for UK 45...depending on my outcome of UK 40?

Any tips/strategies on how to tackle my current UK 40 scenerio?

TXS
I haven't completed the whole campaign yet (it's massive!) but AFAIK you will have to conquer UK again in 1945 if you want to follow the "what-if" campaign path, so getting decisive victory in 1940 doesn't give you much except for a bonus Spain scenario in Jan 1941.

As far as UK'40 scenario goes it's a tricky one - some of your strategic objectives are far away on the northern and north-western edges on the map. There are also some surprises along the way - I won't spoil it though :P

I only managed to get a decisive victory once - on my fourth playthrough (General level). Some general tips:

- deal quickly with the Royal Navy (it can be eliminated in 3 - 4 turns if you combine your navy and strategic bombers)
- do not commit too much force to the siege of London - it will fall anyway
- you have plenty of auxiliary units available - do not land them all on the south shores of England, once the RN is destroyed you can launch an amphibious attack north-east of London
- leave some units and air support near Cornwall, the rest should move north quickly - surround your strategic objectives in the middle of the map, move the remaining forces further north as the weather will turn rainy/muddy near the end of the scenario
- use your navy as mobile fire support, move most of the ships to the west first (so that they can support the siege of London) and once the situation is taken care of move them to the north-east so they can help with capturing one of the final objectives there (when the weather goes bad you will not be able to use your airforce)
- always keep your air units in groups and close the action, so that the bombers have escort and you have enough fighters to intercept enemy planes which will appear in waves during this scenario (and throughout the rest of the GTPG campaign!)

Has anyone ever tried the Karl Gerät in battle? I thought why not...upgraded a +1 movement hero arty to the Karl Gustav.
Wanted to try out the ultimate defense arty ;-).
But regrets all over, not because of slow pace or low ammo, but despite its 60 soft attack value and 50 hard, it delivers same or less amount of damage when compared to the Wurfrahmen...
Both 4 stars and same heros.

Karl has a very low rate of fire - I think it's only 40% (you can check after firing Karl by pressing control+L).
This means that only 40% of its strength attacks. 40% of 10 strength = 4 attacks. This is always rounded down, so at 12 strength, 4.8 attacks is rounded down to 4.

In contrast a 105mm gun has 100% rate of fire, so every strength point attacks. Most heavy guns 150 and above (but not rockets) have Rate of fire around 70 to 90%.

With its extremely high attack values, Karl's few attacks almost always cause kills. So very good when fighting late heavy tanks (Churchill, Pershing, IS and ISU series) and against Brest-Livosk and Maxim Gorky type fortresses which most things hardly scratch (especially if you have +1 ranges so the fortresses can't reach you). The downside is that when fighting soft or lighter armoured targets, you only ever kill a few. In contrast, while your 105mm doesn't kill many units, it can heavily suppress soft targets, halftracks and lighter tanks to the point where they can't damage your own units.

So Karl is a specialist for gradually flattening tough targets, but most field guns are good all-rounders until some time in 1943.

The size is 1.43 Mb for the entire campaign (wasn't it 70 scenario's?) and contains all scenario files.

It should be compatible with any custom unit mod out there as long as the vanilla entries of the units in the e-file are respected.

excellent mod.
but im afraid i have to report a bug. in the gothic line scenario ive managed to hold all objectives and moved 20 units on the A hexes.
still the game only gives me a marginal victory.
savegame can be provided if you need it.

FWIW...

I've played that scenario two times in various campaigns and did not have the problem that's being reported.

PS-I am playing the SS GTPG mod...don't know if that could be the difference.

Yes...excellent mod.

I couldn't find anything wrong with the conditions.
The only problem that might arise is that the 20 units in the area marked with an A, must be German core units
Perhaps i was not clear enough on that behalf.

Hi Nikk,

Going to try to play again. I have the game in the generic mod program but when I open the new campaign it list the GTPG 5 times. I also like to play with a preset core compliment.

By the way, when most modders update the files does the modder place the update in the first post? I am just curious b/c this one has 54 pages

Download for the preset?
When I install 1.14, do I have to do anything extra to get the SS mod?

Thanks for your help and you do a real nice job on this stuff

GME can display a mod twice or more in campaign list, don't really understand why. I gave up using GME.
Most recent version can always be found in the first post of the first page of this thread.
This version of GTPG is the normal vanilla version, you can always use the e-file of my extended vanilla e-file project (GC dlc upgrade project thread) which also contains SS units (vanilla icons though).
There is a thread somewhere of SS-GTPG, a version which has not been updated to deal with the final PzC patches as Airbornemongo vanished from the scope.
I do know that Tenshin111 is reworking the SS-GTPG campaign, perhaps he can inform us of any progress on this project.

Hi guys,

I can confirm that SS-GTPG works just fine with the latest PzC base game, at least on two of my computers.

I'm working on an "extended" version of the mod which should bring more units (Soviet Corps additions mostly), some heroes from GC series as well as some additional and unique German units plus a few tweaks to the equipment file.

I'm almost finished with the 1939-1943 period which I will publish soon (TM) ;)
