Nico's GC Upgrade; Army on Sergeant Rommel

Post by dalfrede »

There has been some discussion on playing campaigns on Ultimate.
IMHO crippling your army in training and then sending it into the field to die is a court marshal offense.
A better choice would be to train at a lower level, and step up to Ultimate when one gets to combat.

I decided to experiment running GC 39 on what I call Sergeant Rommel.
I have not unlocked Ultimate, so Rommel appears to be the closest for fit this experiment.
I personally would not play on Ultimate, but this is a test case to show how it might be done.

Nico's GC 39 BYA starts on the Buy scenario before going to Poland. You start with Pz3 and get Prestige to buy units

For reference the prestige depends on difficulty setting:
Rommel 1825
Colonel 3650
Sergeant 7300

I played Buy on Sergeant, collected 7300 prestige points, switched to Rommel for Poznan.

This is the army I Bought:

10x Krad 39
3x Pz3, including Hans Muller a gifted hero unit.
4x 105 Art
1x StrumPz
4x Bf109
3x Ju87
2x He111

I use a modified Nico equip file; Krad have recon move and multipurpose to dismounted.
Nico's latest version has exit hexes, this allows withdrawing damaged units and replacing with fresh units.

My Army imported into GC40:

Prestige 6781
kills 9 Heroes

1st Inf Krad ** 185 / 19
2nd Inf Krad ** 117 / 19
3rd Inf Krad ** 157 / 30 S+1
4th Inf Krad ** 267 / 17 A+3
5th Inf Krad ** 123 / 28
6th Inf Krad ** 208 / 19 S+1
7th Inf Krad ** 167 / 18 I+1
8th Inf Krad ** 53 / 19

5th Art StrPz ** 77 / 8
6th Art c 105 ** 61 / 0
7th Art c 105 ** 21 / 0

3rd TB Ju87 ** 121 / 9

Helmet Lent BF110 ** 50 / 4 A+1, I+6

1st StrB He111 ** 28 / 7
2nd StrB He111 ** 32 / 8

Notes:

All battle replacements green, except Oleh Dir and a Krad in Lillehammer where weather and lack of rail prevented timely withdraw.

In Narvik I fielded 3 fighters, 4 TB including Recon Rudel, 2 StrB. As the navel battle was won, aircraft were withdrawn for artillery and infantry used for the assault on Narvik.
There comes a time on every project when it is time to shoot the engineer and ship the damn thing.
