Just curious, do you keep Recon Rudel after Stalingrad Docks?

No. Keeping him alive in the recon role can be extremely expensive. For example, you move him to scout an area and there happens to be an AA piece nearby (late in the war the Russians have ample motorized AA so if they can see it they can get a gun under it). Then you have two options:

a) Let Rudel get shot from the ground and finished off with a fighter attack
b) Move a fighter next to him to defend him, knowing that said fighter will take a hit from the ground which could easily cost 100-200 to repair

I always used him in a Me110, which has better recon then a Ju87, making him an amazing scout and gives him some defensive ability.

He can defend himself for a while as a 110, but his negative defense hero hurts him bad. Come 1944 an La-7 or Yak-9U will happily finish him off.

True. In later scenarios I only used him from time to time. Spotting heroes on tanks reduced the need of flying recon. Still, I found he kept being useful for special scenarios, where that big area of spotting came handy. If you attack groups of soviet vehicles you have fighters escorting your regulars bombers anyway.

I am just going through the grand camaign eastern path again with AAR's posted, I am just before stalingrad/docks. (I use him as a BF110.) I dont usually deploy him after stalingrad docks however since I am trying some unusual things I will experiment with him and keep a record of how many times I deploy (if he is useful) him after the docks.
