OR in windows you can use 'regedit' to alter the value in the registry that unlocks the three extra levels.

what is the difference between Rommel difficulty presets and custom "rommel like" settings? Is it not the same thing?

Agree.
I am currently using a custom difficulty with:
Player prestige: 50%
AI prestige: 50%
Turns: -5
That is a combination between Rommel and Guderian, with a PP penalty for the AI. This way it's like in the old Panzer General where to achieve DV you have to capture all objectives faster, and prevent AI to spam a lot of new units and reinforce everywhere (which is unrealistic IMO)
