Cant wait to play this great game in german.

I haven't tested the german patch yet but I like to give you a tip. You have to know that german words are longer than english words. So you don't only have to translate the text. You also have to check if the text fits into the textboxes when it's translated, especially when the english text nearly covers the whole box. I only want to say that because I already played a few games where the words of the german text reaches out of the textboxes and thats annoying somehow. But perhaps you already know that.

I'm also curious if there will be a german speaker for the briefings but I think that's too extravagant. :)

I'd be willing to do Japanese if I can find the time. How many words are there in total? If there is no rush for it, then I'd have no problem with it (though I normally translate from Japanese to English, and not the other way around - but I have colleagues who can help me out). I work as a professional translator and I have done some software localisation in the past (to and from Japanese).

Also, as I am not a native Japanese speaker, I would not be able to do the voiceover. You'd need a native for that......

では、宜しくお願いします!

Thanks Kage - usually we only let people translate to their native language. Esecially for such a specialist subject. I think you'd be great for checking but I'm not sure you'd be able to do the initial translation?

That's really it, you see. As I say, I do have experience of translating into Japanese (and living in Japan for ten years left me as fluent as I'll ever be :) ), but as it's a technical subject, a native would be better suited. Keep me in mind as a proofer, then!

While the formal German you learn in school is a good bit longer and more complicated than English, colloquial German, which most people use in their daily lives, is a lot simpler. The simplest way to understand that is to buy a German comic book, practically any one of them will do; they're all colloquial. The language used in German games is also usually colloquial.

The language used in military reports is not exactly colloquial, but tends to be clipped, so as to pack the maximum information into the minimum space. I have an old German book (scavenged from the flea market in Berlin) about translating English military reports. (Why did they need that, hmm . . .) The examples of English military reports (dating from WWI) are about the same length as the translations.

When in doubt, spit it out! Im Zweifelsfall, rausspucken!

Hello! I'm an italian guy who love WWII and war in general.
I want to help to translate Panzer Corps in Italian. I don't speak English very well, but i can totaly understand it (Spoken and written).
I've participated to the beta but unfortunately I have not bought yet (Here in Italy the economy is about to collapse... :( ).
If you are interested I've co-worked with a friend of mine to the translation of Mumble.

PS: This game is amazing, good job! :D
