Sleet, best of luck to you. Hope you have a good recovery.

If it's the final or not I'm not sure but it's a fun map to play :P
Here is the epitome of Marvin ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4P3pvKmbsg ... still makes me laugh after many (20 ish) years. Never got into the modern remakes - call me a grumpy old man!

Thanks for the get well wishes!
Getting there, one day at a time, this commander will find some Kriegslazarett where there are lots of nice nurses while the leaders take this battle to the final.
Next time.

Cheers,
Sleet :)

Say, CharlyG and Hidde, how about some dispatches from the front lines for those of us who fell along the way?

Good luck to both of you !

Also, best wishes for a speedy recovery to you, Sleet.

Not sure there will be a final after all. CharlyG told me he would pick up my challenge at the beginning of last week but he never did.
Now the challenge has disappeared...

For information, the battle with Hidde has begun.
All is quiet in the town, except some bombardments. No contact for the moment.

"Listen! Can you hear that?"
"I can't hear anything"
"Exactly ... that's what's worrying me!"

All adds to the anticipation

Slowly we're approaching the end...and what a fight it has been, and still is :D
Flags are 6 for me, 3 for CharlyG. Casualties 21 vs 26 (I think).
Sounds good for the Allies, right? Well, not quite since one flag is really just temporary
and the Axis have all their Panthers intact (and leveled up with extra shots and whatnot).
With five turns left they still have time to move and take the necessary flag or two.
I don't have much in the way to stop them...

Hidde and I have just finished "Race for the Town", and it was a minor victory for the Axis.

Flags: Axis 5 - Allied 4
Kills: Axis 35 - Allied 33
Losses: Axis 33 - Allied 35

This victory was difficult to get. Hidde was a very tough opponent and each side has well fought during all the game. Flags for victory have often changed when we're approaching the end.
It was a great battle. Thanks to Hidde for this nice fight.

I would have liked to have been able to watch what sounds like an epic struggle. Congrats to you both for having reached the final round. I think you did your flags proud :!:

You're quite right 8)
Just to give you an idea how close it was I can tell you that when I ended my last turn there were 5 Allied flags.
The one contested flag was taken by CharlyG on his last turn. The very last of the game. The last thing to happen in the game was a Panther
getting destroyed. If I had had a turn after that I would have been able to take the flag back :x
Now, I doubt he would have put the Panther in jeopardy if that had been the case but even so I would have had a chance to take the flag, given one more turn.
Very exciting game against a wily and hard fighting opponent!

I've played quite a few MP games - in all of the campaigns - where the game is won/lost on the last turn. Makes for exciting games as you're never sure until it's finished and during the course of the game, even if you think you're ahead you can't count on it staying that way.

Cheers
