Div A
hidde(Maurya Indian) 32/53
batesmotel(E. Ach. Persian-Platea) 47/45
Hm, after four games with the Mauryans I think I'm starting to appreciate elephants in a whole new way...
That being said, without the help of some totally ridiculous dice not even ellies on their best behaviour could have stolen this battle from the Persians.

Division B
Ironclad (Later Alex Macedonian) 28/40 vs Turk1964 (Later Seleucids) 43/41
Tough fight between two pike armies, with the Macedonians winning thanks to a decisive breakthrough on the right where their more numerous mediums overwhelmed their peers holding off powerful cat interventions along the way. Thanks for an enjoyable game.

Re: Challenges & Results - Classical, season 10
All,
I have decided to not continue anymore play. I really have to take a break from FoG.
My apologies in particular to Caiko and Solly -- the last two I had to play.
Londo should be wrapping up the one live game that's going. He's got it in the bag.

Division B
Londo (Graeco-Bactrian) 22/38 vs Philoi (26th Dynasty Egyptians) 51/50
The Egyptians started off with a wide flanking manoeuvre with a bunch of MF spearmen and archers. They got intercepted by lancers just before reaching the steep hills they were heading for, and things did not go well for the Egyptians.
On the other flank, there was a large archery duel between Egyptians and Indians. The Egyptians won in the end, but I managed to extricate most of the Indians before they collapsed.
In the centre, the small Graeco-Bactrian phalanx faced off against a long row of armoured hoplites. I won that engagement, though it was a near-run thing. The score differential does not reflect how hard Philoi pushed me. My thanks to him for the game.

Division B
Londo (Graeco-Bactrian) 31/39 vs Flatsix (Pontic E) 47/43
There was a lot of manoeuvring without combat in the early part of the game, and the two armies ultimately ended up rotated 90 degrees from where they started! Flatsix carefully positioned his troops along a hill line, but my Indian archers eventually convinced him to come off it and attack on the flat. (Amazing, the Indians finally useful for something!)
Unfortunately, the Pontic commander was a bit too aggressive, charging into battle with his heavy cavalry bodyguard. The G-B commander counter-charged, leading to an epic encounter -- two Inspired generals fighting it out head-to-head! My guy won, because his you-know-what was longer. (His lance was longer than the Pontic cavalry's light spear. What did you think I meant?)
And with the demise of the Pontic C-in-C, all of his army was out of command, apart from a few Armenian cataphracts under an ally general. So I could wear him down, knowing that he'd lose cohesion more often and rally less. Thanks for the game, it was entertaining, and I do hope that you'll return to LOEG in the future.

Two challenges posted for any of my remaining opponents:
Ironclad
Ulysisgrunt
Solly
My army is Graeco-Bactrian: nice cavalry, a smallish pike phalanx, some Indians, and maybe an elephant or two. Low BPs are its Achilles heel. (Why don't we get those wonderful peasant mobs that most other armies enjoy, eh?)
Password is "LOEG".

Div B challenge for Caiko, password "Caiko"
Cheers macsen
This is my last game, apart from the one on going with Aristides (I'm shooting him to death, it's very tedious for both of us )

Division B
Ironclad (Later Alex Macedonian) 32/40 vs Londo (Graeco-Bactrian) 44/40
Great battle which could have gone either way. Through a skilful withdrawal of cavalry/pikes the GB's left the advancing Mac pikes hitting air and forced a number of isolated actions across the field anchored by a strong position on the GB left which made good use of their mediums including archers placed there. The action remained close till the last couple of turns when the Macs took the enemy camp (whilst theirs held) and their main body of pikes completed the wide sweep around to their right necessary to engage and overcome the now grouped GB pikes and mediums. Thanks for a very enjoyable game.
