Despite my dislike of open comps I am thinking about the possibility of Britcon this year for the first time since I was part of the org team

Just wondering who else is going for FoG:R?

Found the lead for a bit of a ropey army I could use which is also tempting me

Giraffes - believe me, they're gonna be big.

Well, tall at least.

I may struggle making this after all - just realised it starts the Friday after I will have just come back from a 10 day living history event in Denmark with the Company of St George. May just not work :(

Maybe we shouldn’t have changed the rules and points so much!

Without a new book (now not viable) and obsolete Army List books, you can’t attract new players and the rule and list changes have split the existing small player base, many of whom have moved to other (non Renaissance) rules. Shame as they were a great set of rules!

Much as I love FoGR, I think that ship has sailed :(

Unfortunately, they are migrating to a certain Polish set of Renaissance rules, if they remain wargaming this period. At least this rule set treats dragoons in a sensible way.

Not so sure of that. Indeed some people are at our club who are really interested in Eastern Europe but the majority are still using FOGR. My feeling is that the rules will continue very nicely at club level, albeit in different forms depending on your opinion of the changes, but seems to be slowly dying a death at the competition level.
I still think it is the best set of renaissance rules to date.

The latest edition of the FoGR rankings have been published, with Ben Jones claiming the top spot of the 66 FoGR players who have appeared on the UK circuit in the last 12 months.

With an active player pool of 66, FoGR is currently the #4 most widely played "pre-WW2" competition gaming system in the UK right now (or technically #3 if you count FoGAM V3 as a separate system to V2).

With a dozen (and still growing) signed up for Devizes as well, I suspect rumours of FoGR's demise are somewhat overstated!

Also Attack have provided extra spaces for FoG:R due to demand.

Britcon's lack of entries seems to be rather the exception than the rule at present. Not sure what the cause is.
