Any non-European list from Cities of Gold and Colonies and Conquests. Min 16 warriors, max 12 "Battle cavalry" ((Cavalry/Horse/Determind Horse/Camalry/Gendarmes/Caveliersetc) and Europeans if taken can only be allies.
Only change from last year (apart from the rules tweaks) will be points dropping to 750, especially if the max BG is 16, it makes sense not to have wasted points! The deployment may also follow the Oxford model of being 15"/18" to allow people to get stuck in quickly as it's a three game day.
Best naval power, most generals killed, plus first three will be rewarded again.

It's probably worth pointing out that the Max BG formula, if it's adopted, is dependent on army size, so a 750 point army would have a max size (to count towards army break) of 15. On that basis, you may want to keep the points to 800.
Re: Potential Dates for 'Way of The Warriors' 2017
Fair enough! Just at 800 last year not many games got finished last year...

Not for me regrettably this year. The no brainer army to take is the is Buccaneer which is basically a European army with Muskets! Introducing the breaks on 4 losses for average troops, makes it even stronger! Limiting the number of BG's knocks out most of the fun Warrior armies. Seems to not really make it a "Way of the Warriors event!
Last year with a Hawaiian with 19 BG's I got a big win, then Keith and I battered each other for an 11-9 and in the last game time was called 40 minutes early!
Hope it goes well!

Personally I'd class the Buccaneers as a European army. They're just unofficial colonists.
Re: Potential Dates for 'Way of The Warriors' 2017
I thought max number of battle groups had been killed off?
Re: Potential Dates for 'Way of The Warriors' 2017
Spedders, no clue...
Buccaneers are allowed as they are not a European power, following the Impact foot/warrior idea. Colonial lists are the heavy pike & shot lists, that mince warriors (such as Spanish Colonial). However, it anyone feels brave enought to take British colonial, let me know!

What, you mean gatling guns, rockets, Lee-Metfords, all that sort of stuff?

I wasn't aware that the BG limit to army break was still under discussion. I know it was mentioned at some point but as our period does not suffer(?) from the "Dominate Roman swarm effect" that caused it's introduction in FOGAM2 I thought it wasn't a proposal.
Just to clarify, it doesn't limit the number of BG you can field but how many count to army break point.

Yes, that's correct, there is no limit on the number of BGs that could be fielded, only those that count towards the army break point.
Re: Potential Dates for 'Way of The Warriors' 2017
That suggestion was removed?

We're not currently considering it but if the points changes cause concerns about army sizes it might need to be revisited.

Re: Potential Dates for 'Way of The Warriors' 2017
Two points:-
1) Allies:- I just checked and last year, only non-European allies were allowed.
2) Points:- If it's any help, we did think of reducing the armies for this year's "Italian Wars" round (Southampton/September) to 750 points, but decided that closer deployment was sufficient. Of course, not many "warrior" armies have a superior, fully armoured, mounted troop type at 18 points/base.....

I think there was a typo, you could use European allies (I know, I did!)
Re: Potential Dates for 'Way of The Warriors' 2017
European allies are in.

So, how many bodies might we expect for this?
