Panzerfaust

Post by jcb989 »

Hey how come there isn't some sort of Panzerfaust unit for the Germans?

It would be interesting to mod a unit for them for late 1943 into 1945.
Maybe a Volkssturm unit would be carrying them in Berlin in BA2 against the Russians,
but they were also used with success by regular infantry units late in the war.

Given that they were a single-shot weapon, maybe they should be modeled as a different kind of "AT charge" that
would replace the dynamite symbol, and for game mechanics, pack a bigger %kill punch against armor units.
The Panzerfaust 30 and 60 but could penetrate 7 inches of vertical armor within their (very short) operating range.

I'm least likely to know, but I thought we already had a Panzerfaust unit in there?

Well there's a Panzerschreck unit but not a Panzerfaust unit:

Yes, those. lol. My thinking was, they could differentiate some German infantry units by modeling the panzerfaust to replace the demo charges, range would still be 1 tile, so I guess the effort would only be rewarded by curiosity and realism. One difference would be penetrating power; the panzerfaust was a very dangerous close-range anti-tank weapon, far superior to anything the Allies had at close range.

Yes most Grenadier units had atleast 1 Panzerfaust solider in each squad. So in addition to the 2 AT Charges one special "rocket" Icon to show the Panzerfaust. It should also have a range of atleast 2 instead of 1.

Ah - fair enough :). I would suggest that we mimic the distribution of them with the AT charges and attack from Axis infantry.

This would be a good idea in BA2 since I heard they might add the siege of Berlin.
Lots of volksturm units and there could be panzerfaust unit as the German version of British
Sticky bombers,no?

I agree, it would add some infantry unit weapon variety if it were modeled instead of imagined, Pip, haha

Yes they are abstracted in to the infantry combat stats for short range. Nobody just had a panzerfaust as it was single use. They were like grenades. You carried them as well as your primary weapon.

I think some home guard type units were equipped only with these and maybe some pistols late in the war.
