BA Fatal Application Exit

Post by woodz »

I have been playing BA on my new pc for the last month, with no problems. I have just started to play the "Battle of the Bulge" campaign, first scenario, and after 6 to 8 turns game crashes with following error.

BA:BA.exe - Fatal Application Exit

***Unhandled Exception! ExpCode: 0x80000003 ExpFlags:0

ExpAddress: 0x00488450 Please report!

I have had BA since it first came out and have never had any issues at all. :( :( :( :(

Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

Please post the contents of the error.log file (in My Documents/My Games/BBCBA) immediately after the crash occurs.

That was not immediately after the crash, as it shows the game exiting correctly.

Hi,

I get the same error. I have attached the file. I hope you can find a resolution for this.

Thanks,
Figo

Sorry, I tried to attach a notepad note but server would not allow a text file? See below.

Thanks for the log! Hmmm - that is reporting a general DirectX E_FAIL error. Which is about as generic as it gets! I would suggest updating your video drivers as it could be a conflict between Windows updates and your current drivers. It could also be a fault in the video card itself that has only just become apparent.

What language are you playing in?

Cheers

Hi Pip,
Thanks for the response. Windows updates and video drivers are all up to date. I can play games such as Conflict of Heroes, XCom Enemy Unknown and of course Panzer Corps/Allied Corps without issues so I remain confused...
I do appreciate your looking into this though.

I'm playing in English.

Just to check - are you definitely running the most up to date version of Battle Academy? The latest version is 2.6.0

Please grab this zip:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/z7ipd6gp76kk8 ... X.zip?dl=0

Drop the EXE from the zip into your install folder and run it. Please let me know if it solves your issue. Note that the existing BA shortcut on your desktop will still be pointing to the original EXE, you'll need to run the hotfix EXE directly.

Cheers

Hi Pip,

I don't understand what's happening...I can run the file. I get a message saying that mss32.dll is missing or not installed yet it is present in the BA directory??
Normally, if I try out a demo first I usually delete it before buying and installing a game. I didn't do this (who knows why this time  ), could this be causing a problem?

Thanks for your continued help!

It sounds like you are running the file directly from the zip. You need to copy the EXE file from the zip into the same folder as the existing BA EXE and DLLs.

Hi

Was there a fix for this in the end?. I have a similar problem. BA won't load says it is checking for updates, just hangs, click OK and you get the eror messages outlined below. I have rasied a ticket with support. I downloaded BA from steam - worked for about 10 days with no problem. I've uninstalled and re installed. Just to eliminate Steam I downloaded the demo version but again get the same error message. I have a PC running windows 10. Thank you.
