Is there a reason why the Later Spanish are excepted? As the moment the Flanders and Spain Army's has a minimum of 4 and the Army of Italy a minimum of 0.

Re: BG Autobreak - proposal
I agree with the Autobreak proposal. I see no need to mess with the Army Break points - yes it may be tougher to get through larger armies but it is the size that makes them dangerous. I love using my Hawaiians but I have to accept substantial losses so that I can break the enemies units. If I becom...

Re: Play Test
In the proposal, light troops break on 50% losses so a 2 base Light Horse unit would be broken!DavidT wrote:revised autobreak - this worked well, although it did seem strange with average LH still being a pain after two base losses.

Re: Other Artillery stuff - proposal
Agree with 1 and 3 but not 2. Deploying artillery early nails your overall deployment as it is the toughest unit in the army to shift even if it is deployed limbered. If you deploy early and the opponent deplys chear of a path of the guns, then that is an unhistorical outcome. Equally we have all se...

Re: Elephants
Playing Devil's advocate, could I understand the rationale for not allowing Elephants, Divisional moves with cavalry, with the assumption being that such moves would be limited to 2 and that movement would be at the elephant rate of 4" - thus giving a max Divisional move of 8"? Isn't that...

Otherwise they go out with the cavalry and then get left behind!

Re: Bows
My last word on bow short range!
It would seem really odd if mounted bow could shoot 4" at short range but foot bow couldn't! That would give Mtd bow a big advantage over foot bow, yet if we aligned mounted and foot bow short range at 3" then mtd bow becomes even more non viable!

Re: Bows
And also, maybe, to cut out some of the dicking around measurement that seems to take place because of the difference. That rarely happens now - as we are all allowed to measure distances most players will say I'm in 4" and out of 3" etc - never been a problem! also if we start looking at...

Re: Bows
Are we doing this for historical accuracy or for game balance? Whilst it evens up the Musket vs Bow dynamic, it completely changes the "in period theme" dynamic. Reducing bows range makes them extremely vulnerable to Warriors who can charge 4" and therefore they will now only face 1 r...

Re: FoG:R Update - Better Armour PoA
Nik I am ok with the two step program for mounted on mounted action, provided there is a (admitidly small) reduction in the cost of said armour for mounted (as it will still be useful against Bows and long range Shot). It will make some of the Duty and Glory historical interactions closer. Regards ...

Well he is 3rd in the Rankings - maybe he's worked out that if he wins both scales at Roll Call which are each worth 120 Ranking points, he can jump Alasdair back into 1st spot!!!viking123 wrote:So is Keith doing both 15 and 25mm FOG R?
More realistically, I guess he has entered for both him and Ray!

I am of the view that removal of captured artillery is basically agreed and we can say that it will be in the update. Last call for arguments against ... Re: FoG:R Update - BG autobreak
Don Agree with you other than the last point. Nick and Richard rather tastefully shot a Swiss Keil to bits without me even reaching contact when using their Napoleonic Grand battery and Tercios at the Rollcall Beta tourney... but I am over it now... Well I wasn't there so lets call it twice! TBF it...

Re: FoG:R Update - BG autobreak
For my pennyworth I agree that all Battle groups (including Elites) should break on >50% and Lights on 50%. Whilst accepting this is a backward step for superior lights, what we see now is that Superior Lights once they've lost 2 bases, with their unique turn and move, they run away very quickly and...

Re: Commanded Shot
I'm not sure the Swedish Commanded Shot should ever have been anyway! I always thought that the Salvo represented a shot before they charged in and I can see Commanded shot charging other cavalry. It can also be a shot just before the lines clash as well... i.e. the receipt of a charge. Given we're...

Re: Commanded Shot
How this sound as an idea (more for flavour than anything - and I have no idea on the history of it, just going by the lists as written): What if Salvo commanded shot gave a +1POA regardless on impact. This gives the Swedes that one extra bit of biff if they are up. Just totally spit balling. Don't...

Re: Commanded Shot
Agree with Kevin - keep it as hitting on 5/6's vs Horse and 4/5/6's vs foot - they are muskets after all! Previously it would be set up so the CS would become a target priority but as a marker this will not happen in any exchange of fire so Foot vs horse will become a fight tipped back to the foot! ...

Re: Commanded Shot
Gave this a bit of thought whist driving to Carlisle today - nothing like a 300+ mile drive to give you thinking time :) One conclusion I came to was that the PoA mechanism of commanded shot seems to work quite well (I can't recall anyone saying it was broken) and it is other issues with the curren...

Re: Light Artillery
I agree. Another reason not to increase the Light Artillery range is that under the tournament rules as played at the moment, they are exempted from the "firing into the flank" restriction. If we increase the range they can virtually cover the flank. In 25mm I know of a couple of players w...
