Good! Actually for me, the releases are coming out too fast and too furious. I usually find myself still checking out army lists and trialling new armies after 3 months. In fact, it's likely to get worse as more expansions are released, because you always want to play with some old favourites as wel...

I'm with Slitherine on this.....partly. Not to say that they shouldn't do the incremental changes mentioned above, there are some great ideas there. However, while they will make us happy, I'm not sure they will increase the rate that new players join the FOG system. To do that we need the "bu...

And while we are on the subject of LOTR, we must have a Southron army replete with hardcore Oliphants!

Also Nazgul and Giant Eagles as appropriate allies?

Off topic I know, but that Panzer Corps screenie looks so much like PG2... Lots of nostalgia there, but surely it will have moved on somewhere.

Fantasy... at first I thought, "oh pulease no...," but actually I think it will be pretty cool. I enjoy the non-historical DAG games at the moment, so this is just another flavour.

A purely subjective response; but I like Immortal Fire the best: very interesting and varied armies. Swords and Scimitars is fun, but a trifle limited in scope. I have got on least well with Storm of Arrows.

RTR is a complete mod, and much more stable than EB

I've found Rome Total Realism more on my taste than Europa Barbarorum. You should try both, or wait for a couple of years or so for the next Total War: Rome 2 :) wakes up and commences google searching... didn't know hat was coming. No there isn't - I think you mean Total War: Shogun 2... goes back...

Regarding swords and longbowmen: every source I've had access confirm that longbowmen (almost those part of a Retinue) had swords and acted as infantry joining the melee when contact between the two armies has been reached. Just to make an example, at Mauron English archers charged (!) downhill dis...

If you allow archers to shoot over other archers, then why shouldnt they be able to shoot over other troops , like billman??
That was what I was suggesting.

However for me the real differentor is the fact that it took a many years learning to use one well, and developing the strength to pull it so that it could fire so far. Such troops would be 'superior' to my mind, but I do not know/believe that that rating has an impact on kill rates in FOG. Can any...

The "Drizzle of Arrows"! I agree re the longbow. 6 hexes would help. However for me the real differentor is the fact that it took a many years learning to use one well, and developing the strength to pull it so that it could fire so far. Such troops would be 'superior' to my mind, but I do...

Play daily: FOG Play occasionally: Hearts of Iron 2 and most derivatives - in particular Arsenal of Democracy. Hearts of Iron 3 and Semper Fi. Sitting on Hard Disk: Commander - Europe at War, but it just does not compare to HOI - sorry Slitherine. The entire Total War Series bar the last one. Playe...

VENT ON 5 turns in. I'm winning 8BP to nothing. Resignation from my opponent. Yes I will probably win this matchup, as for a very average player, I was playing above myself for a change, but a message to he/she and other early resigners... It's very, very frustrating. Your opponents are expending pr...

Best of luck. Its a superb battle to to try to recreate. I tried to build it, but gave up on the core problem of having half the combatants standing around, particulalry in a single player game. The solution that I worked on was a bit of a kludge - placing the two idle armies on broken ground and m...
