True, you can use a different break point, but that's not the proposal presented in v2.0. Given a choice between the old and the new, I prefer the new. I might have chosen your suggestion but it's not one of the ones offered. Sorry, I must have misunderstood. I thought we were commenting on the pro...

Just for reference, the old rule was that average break at >40%, superiors >50% and elites >60%, but in practice for: 4 base BG of superiors would break at 75% (3 bases) - same as elites 6 base BG of superiors would break at 66.7% (4 bases) - same as elites 8 base BG of superiors would break at 62....

QRS Status?
I think this was last asked and answered back in October. Any further news or have I missed something?

Like Deadtorius my annoyance with Amazon is slightly mollified by the fact that I am deep into bringing my ECW armies up to FOG standards. What I fail to understand is how Amazon can have pre-orders for X number of copies and not be able to fulfil them on publication. I have had one e-mail back from...

December :( Well that's a blow. How on earth did Amazon get it so badly wrong? In theory that would give me more time to paint up the extra figures I need to bring my Italian Wars armies up to FOG requirements but as I don't have the army lists.....! Only thing to do in the meantime is paint up enou...

According to Amazon UK due for publication yesterday(12/10/10) but now showing as temporarily out of stock.
I just e-mailed them to ask what is happening as my order shows not yet despatched but an estimated delivery time now of sometime next week.
If I get a reply I will update the information here.

Pikes more defensive?
From reading the rules I guess the pikes of this period are viewed as more a defensive weapon than an attacking one? They don't get quite the same POA as in FOGAM, needing a fourth rank to get a single +, but in three ranks negate a lot of what might be coming their way. And of course are very good ...

Hoorah! Happier now book and lists finally arrived yesterday afternoon. The only downside is that I now realise my ECW armies are way too small!! Upside is less to rebase whenever I get around to it. Hopefully when Trade and Treachery arrives (please be on time) my early Italian Wars armies are not ...

Not happy!!
Just got an e-mail today from Amazon saying they have run out of FOG:R and the first army list for the order I placed on August 4th!! How can they not have stock in for an order placed 6 weeks prior to publication and why wait until the day after it was due to be despatched to tell me? They also can...

Looting camps question
Played against the Achaemenid Persians yesterday and they snuck a unit of LH into my camp. Used the CMT to see if they would stop looting and suprised to see Skirmishers and Drilled lumped together to pass this. I thought undrilled or drilled would be the main consideration and therefore those undis...

Thank you for the replies, especially about the odds. Just confirms how unlucky I must be! Good indication of that was yesterdays game. Two BG of hoplites(not Spartan) uphill of attacking pike. Both lost impact, went fragmented and then routed after the melee phase. Not unusual for me even with Spar...

Charging without orders
I have played about half a dozen games now and still don't get the rationale for this. It seems to me that the differentiation between drilled and undrilled shock troops testing on the CMT to avoid this is not big enough i.e just 1 on 2D6. I have been trying out the rules using Classical Greeks and ...

Pursuit rationale
Just played my third game and an interesting situation arose. A pike block routed a unit of hoplites in the enemy melee phase and pursued, then pursued again in the JAP at which point the hoplites disintegrated. It was now the pike players turn and the pikes moved yet again, turning 90 degrees onto ...
