Not sure it's possible to take a game too seriously Nigel.
You're going to have to turn up in Manchester with something spectacular if you're to stand a chance of repairing the damage done to your reputation at the Challenge.

Re: The 2015 BHGS Challenge, June 20/21st
Interesting Eastern section in that pool, 2 Russians (from the same club, is this a club bet, take the same army, who will come highest) Central London Wargames Club collected results clearly demonstrate that any suggestion that members are in any way competitive (either with each other or with the...

Re: Shooting over non visibility troops
Just for pure badness, I have been considering Don's view of this issue from another angle. I have a dragoon unit in an enclosed field which is visible to a pike and shot unit which is three inches from them. Both these units can shoot at each other but are not visible to all other units who are mo...

Re: Shooting over non visibility troops
This came up in a club game a while back - could some musketeers fire at a P&S unit that was immediately behind a unit of dragoons lining the edge of an enclosed field (the latter being technically "invisible" as they were just a smidge over 4" from the firing unit). Only if the ...

Re: A new event at the Oxford Club - 6/7 June 2015
Enjoyed the event very much - many thanks to the organisers and my opponents: Game 1 v Stephen Stead (Early TYW Swede) hard fought 8-12. As it always is against Stephen - hard fought that is, I consider 8pts a result! Game 2 v Ben Jones (TYW French civil war) 5-20 [?] I'd like to say it was down to ...

Excellent as usual.
By the way, how did one of the presenters from MadaxemanTV secure the gig narrating the King Charles Cavalier Spaniel documentary?

Re: War of the Roses FOGR
Secondly, bow fire appears utterly useless in FOGR causing not a single casualty and only about two cohesion tests. The game basically came to getting a result from melee rather than shooting. Bowfire is actually incredibly powerful in FoGR. For starters you get two ranks shooting at full effect. T...

Re: Guns and Supports Flank Charged
It is sort of covered by the rules, but it's a bit awkward on the table. Don't have my rules with me, but I seem to recall that an artillery base is mostly open ground with the guns occupying a very small area. Thus when artililery are supported the support troops actually occupy the same ground as ...

This is the one case where P&S are allowed a non-standard formation. So you can expand to a two-wide block as a step towards returning to a legal formation.spotteddog wrote:What happens in melee as they cant conform [expand] in a legal way? Fight till they can?

Deployment will be to 25mm MUs rules except that the flank sectors will be 12" I am sure that I have forgotten key things so do not be shy in letting me know. Tom This isn't helped by the fact that the rules say the MU for 25/28mm figures on a 6'x4' table is 1". The usual rule is: ...

Re: New Competition Formats
Or we could adopt a more standard pairs format:
1 Each team brings two identical armies.
2 Each player fights with their own army twice and against it twice.
3 The draw is by team using their combined score, not by individual score.

New Competition Format
A discussion was started in email about FoGR tournaments which I think might be of interest to the FoGAM community: Let's start with the original idea: From Stephen Stead I have often thought about a similar tournament format. You design and bring an army but do not play it. After the first round th...
