Re: Need for greater historical accuracy for Indian Army Lists

Makes sense. I read the “most common” phrase as being the commonly agreed figure after taking into account the exaggeration.

Re: Need for greater historical accuracy for Indian Army Lists

"Though I would still say that Western Rajputs, bordering the Ghazvanids and the Sindh, should have Armored Indian Lancers. The Persian sources that I cited when discussing the battle of Tarain in 1192 and the later battles between the Turks and Indians (Rajput states)," I have an interes...

Re: B. Hastings & Pushbacks

This might have something to do with the top-down design of the game. It tries to recreate the overall result. The Normans did win after all. It would be difficult to play it out just as what happened historically (Normans feinting or breaking and then some Saxon units out of control, etc). This isn...

Re: Need for greater historical accuracy for Indian Army Lists

I think the Indian lists needed some love. The armies were quite weak in my opinion..

Re: What is next for Field of Glory?

Yes, hints that it could be Horse & Musket 17th-18th century. Marco said something before about Napoleonic being one step too far for now (in terms of engine requirements, etc).

Re: Effectiveness Of Pike Squares Against Armor IRL

Yes, plate armor was very effective, otherwise people wouldn't have gone through the expense and discomfort! I get the impression that much of close range melee was about getting the enemy individuals isolated and/or knocked down on the ground in any way possible. At which point, armor is no longer...

Re: FOG2 v1.6.6 update is now available - Patch Notes

Ah, it makes sense now. Thanks a lot. Still, the foot guard just costs way too much, just as veteran hoplite price was too low and now it is adjusted. Out of all the adjustments Veteran Hoplites going to 66 stood out for me. I already had them down as my least favourite hoplite unit at 60. Being ju...

Low Figures for Multiplayer Mode

I have often heard this statement that "only around 5% of players play multiplayer." Surely this kind of statistic is skewed by players who just don't play the game any more. There is the % that give up on the game as it isn't for them after 2-3 hours. Then there are the players who only p...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?

I don't know even what we are talking about any more but I know we both like figures and data. I am sure we are entertaining someone. Those armies (Ptolemaic, Antigonid, Pyrrhic and Ancient Brit) come to 57%, 50%, 52% and 48% win rate respectively. Apart from the Ptolemaic army the Romans are right ...

Happy to return to the original topic, but first to be annoying with statistics one last time: Andalusian (756-1049AD) 156-16-80 Arab Conquest (638-684AD) 150-16-77 Bosporan (11BC-375AD) 83-8-53 Carthaginian, Hannibal in Italy (216-203BC) 135-8-100 Carthaginian, Hannibal in Africa (202BC) 143-14-11...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?

Remember, none of the army lists have great records. The top armies were on around 50%-55%, actually. Roman 105 BC and 199 BC are on 49% and 48% (for wins) respectively. They were the most popular lists for a reason. In a nutshell, I do think Roman Legionaries are overpowered but not enough to warra...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?

From what I remember the Roman armies often finished first and second in the Digital League. This was especially true in the lower divisions. In Medieval, armies are more balanced now with the later DLCs.

Yes, the Veteran Spear is a good example of a unit that did need to be repriced.

Re: What is the Worst Unit?

The Roman Legionaries are 78 and pikes are 72 so I don’t think for a superior quality impact foot unit they are hideously overpriced. I am not saying there is a huge balance issue but if you look at the statistics the Roman armies usually are close to the top of the pile in the leagues. I wouldn’t c...

Re: What is the Worst Unit?

I think it is slightly exaggerated to say that expensive units have never presented balance problems by being overpowered in Ancients or Medieval. Perhaps not overpowered to a large degree but certainly an advantage in many situations. For me, what comes to mind are Roman Legionnaires in Ancients an...

This mod does look impressive. Maybe a precursor for what is to come further down the FoG 2 line..

Thanks for the hard work.

Re: graphics

Naked Gauls okay. A little more definition and detail. Ancients looks a bit ‘washed out’ compared to Medieval. I would like a bit more colour and perhaps some dirt.
