Re: Failed to send to the server - stuck game in a mirrored pair of games

Just a update on a minor detail. I asked my opponent to confirm if the mirror of this game is also exhibiting the same issue. He said it did. So it appears that both of the games in the pair seem to be effected.

Re: Error loading MP turn of Edgehill Scenario in the original P&S

So interestingly if I try to launch the game from the game files folder directly (it is the steam version of the original P&S). I get a Steam Startup Error (0) followed by the same Unhandled Exception! (Same ExpCode and ExpAddress as the error I get when I run the game via steam but get to the m...

Failed to send to the server - stuck game in a mirrored pair of games

I've tried a number of times to upload the turn in this PBEM match but it keeps failing to send (likely a server hiccup) repeatedly. I've tried half a dozen times on various days since the 9th of Feb so it looks like the match is really stuck. Trying to abandon the turn or save off some of the moves...

seems like the other challenge which loaded fine once is now exhibiting the exact same issue. How odd.

Re: Are Tool Tips Enough to Play

Tooltips and the tutorials are all you really need especially if you are comfortable with the Ancients game. The manual (which is beautifully laid out I might add) has some additional details about certain units and mechanics that are new in the medieval game. Including a table of the POAs if you wa...

Re: New engine?

If you run the Ancients game alright you should be ok to run the medieval game.

It is ever so slightly more demanding but most systems that run Ancients will have no problem at all.

Re: Chapel de fer(kettle/pot helm) problems

One form of Kettle Hat is there for some of the units. This is from a preview picture in a wargamer site article that since their transition is no longer easily accessible: https://i.imgur.com/fa8ynDE.jpg See: https://web.archive.org/web/20201216130708/https://www.wargamer.com/articles/field-of-glor...

Re: Error loading MP turn of Edgehill Scenario in the original P&S

We've now got another challenge working. So as you say likely just corrupted data. Just reporting the error as the error said to report it.

Error loading MP turn of Edgehill Scenario in the original P&S

I'm getting the following error and CTD when I try to load this game versus smjohnso77. Note this is with the original Pike & Shot (not the Campaigns version) https://i.imgur.com/8IOd4KG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/t8peuGi.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BNPMIVj.jpg Interestingly the Edgehill scenario loads...

Re: Field of Glory II: Medieval - Invitational Tournament

The first match up is a good one! It is going to be fun to see these battles played out with Edmon channeling the community input.

French 1155-1319 AD versus English 1155-1271 AD

In other words......

Baguettes versus Yorkshire Puddings!

Re: Battle Academy: Team Yankee

I would also add that a certain set of hobby gamers are mighty enamored with the concept of monster games and or smaller games where you still manage the direct control of all of your units with varying levels of generally fairly unrealistic omniscience. WEGO as it is implemented currently in some g...

Re: Battle Academy: Team Yankee

I think I get where your criticism of the way CM and Flashpoint Campaigns work is coming from given your post in another thread. I think WEGO is a great concept that is used poorly in video games - most developers don't understand how military decision making is done within a chain of subordinate co...

Re: Battle Academy: Team Yankee

Sigh, everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess. FC has both strengths and weaknesses. It is arguably a more complex game than BA and I think most here would agree. Other computer games in this space I guess would be Armored Brigade or WinSPMBT (although that is not just a Cold War era focus...
