You hit the target, who is going to attack a wall of pikes??? my reply is as they are now in game the impact is not punishing the units doing it... with time usually pike units are going to win VS heavy foot IF impact not disrupt pikes (and here the warbands have a biggest chance to disrupt pikes in...

The evasion system for light foots is not working well at all... is not the first time i see heavy foot pushing light foot and chasing them in same turn after very strange evasion reaction. I think game needs the old FOG ability to set light troops (and cavalry) evasion posture, never evade, AI evad...

Part of the problem is that cavalry is fixed to much times and it cant break contact to often... i refer that even when cavalry can suffer lower casualties you cant see it breaking contact something that made you need keep cavalry in rear to prevent see it wasted in long combat situations whit no op...

To be clear, my problem is not in warbands defeating other heavy foot, is in how they defeat it with no chance to counter them... hoplites simple are smashed by warbands and medium warbands are doing similar things to other medium foot. Warbands VS average hoplites can impact over them forcing a retreat of a fragmented or disrupted hoplite unit... only superior hoplites can survive this usually... and even if impact fails in melee the warbands have numbers+weapons to crack hoplites in 2-3 turns at best. Pike units need be the WORST...

I'm pretty sure skirmisher is not a good way to depict them even at the start of a battle. Possibly a better question for English longbowmen is whether in the WotR (and maybe late HYW) they should be separate from the men-at-arms types or in a combined body ... :shock: :twisted: The Foard and Curry...

Well, warbands are with pike units the strongest heavy foot in game, specially warbands can rush over hoplites and similar heavy foot very reasy, only superior troops can have a chance VS them. I experience with legionary units and they are capable to stand VS warbands and even defeat them BUT warbands in general finish with them in long term because you need crack warbands with lucky attacks apart but medium warbands are very effective VS the roman support medium foot that you use to comp...

Seeing the effectivity of indian medium bows i dont think longbow units need be lights... here the role of cavalry is going to be critical because infantry alone VS medium bows are food for them and if you add crossbows to support them... because i asume are going to be the cheap shot medium foot in...

Phalanx can deal with heavy warband heavy assault but is not very common see heavy warbands assaults failing VS other heavy foot and if you start with a cohesion test in impact the melee could be the door to fragmenation or even break. Some extra tests, phalanx 100% in flat terrain in a continuous line. Looks like warbands (heavy foot) do his best in impact, here is a little surprising see how pikes do a worst job VS assaults compared with melee, average VS average (with some damage in warbands from lights) impact 19-23 favour war...

The problem is you are not going to have 1 VS 1 situations... VS human players you could be forced to mantein the line waiting enemy attack... while he made 2-3 units attack one of your pike units... or simple avoid your main pike body to wait you with terrain advantage. The problem with pike armies...
