Re: Rome's leaders

its random, its a way of simulating ruler death for the Republics. They tend to last longer (unless things are going wrong) but they will die in the end. And yes, numpties are part of the game, if they are extremely bad it will force you to alter your game play for a while (equally the very good ope...

Re: Emporiums

Good (in that its useful to know that when you *think* something works that it does). its just I recall an Epirus game where I went commerce mad and had the damn things cluttering up my building queues. I've done a wee bit more reading and Grognerd's fantastic guide includes the following gems: ... ...

Re: Emporiums

my take. You have a 50% chance to get one of the 16(?) emporium buildings added to your potential build lists They are only buildable in a region that can build level III commerce (so you need 6 commerce buildings) The crafter building might add to your problems. A lot of commerce buildings use this...

Re: Emporiums

it does. One problem is the building chain from the first commerce building (the one that has infra slot) fills out the options. So one idea is to delete that from a couple of your richest regions, that reduces the range of commerce buildings that are offered. Each time you take the choice, you get ...

Re: 2nd capital

its one of the buildings - Summer Palace etc (there are a few variants) - so you need to build one.

For most purposes both regions act as capitals but for a few decisions (corn law etc) only the most cultured one is counted.

Re: How does Ethnicity Conversion actually work?

in this context culture is neutral, it merely increases the chance of a pop pt flipping.

also there are a few buildings that increase conversion and one decision (there is also a ruler trait but that is pretty random)

I think its one pt per region per turn (as a max)

Re: Been Waiting for This For About 20 Years!

well the manual is clear that this will happen: 11.2.3: In larger battles the unit conversion ratio is down-scaled to keep the number of units manageable but its something you can adjust, I tend to set the inflation rate at around 150% which seems to avoid the few situations when the system generate...

Re: What drives war wearniess upwards?

sounds right, probably still below the threshold for low if it was a single war, it would start to show if you had multiple wars of the same length

Re: Advice - Sarmatia

thats how I often do it - works well if you are playing in a fluid part of the map with often a lot of indy armies roaming around. So areas like Germany and the Steppes are good candidates.

other tricks are to pillage your own region, for some reason that can really annoy them 8)

Re: What drives war wearniess upwards?

I think its simply time in each war, but each separate war (or enemy) counts. So if you have 3 enemies at a time then the current warscore is how many years you have been at war with them times 3. Once you peace, that warscore is dropped, so if you peace out of a long war that can remove a lot. Then...

Re: Becoming empire, unable to use metal and manpower

yes its all red buildings. The value is 1 point for a level 1 building, 2 for 2, 3 for 3. Since the ideal is a national average > 4 this gives you some idea how valuable pushing one or two regions deep into the military building list can be - and that it really helps to have 2-3 level 1 everywhere (...

Re: Unit Move Routes

The circular move comes from a patch so you'll need to check what that actually says. Yes, manual was written pre release from a late beta. The core is still correct but things get changed. We are still exploring how to get something on line that is easier to update but the extent of gameplay change...

Re: Unit Move Routes

if you do a circle, make sure you confirm as you go by right clicking (or shift right click - can't fully remember what the final command has to be)

fixed moves shouldn't change - are you sure you confirmed your constructed path (or that you set it for every region - often you don't need to do this)

Re: Advice - Sarmatia

I did a Sarmatia game and had 2 near death moments. At the start its hard not to expand due to the inevitable Skythian war and that put me into old. I got out of it by allowing some regions to revolt which reduced the number of poor regions and and my nation size (if the Skythians respawn they don't...

Re: A Bug?

are you sure they are not disbanded? You can sometimes get this if a region has been the the capital and lost/regained or becomes the capital of a new faction. There is a routine to clear them up - you'll see the message about the locals disbanding the building for the infrastructure but it might ta...

Re: Best defence against raids?

certainly more military buildings overall is a great help. If you can get your faction military experience > 4 then your garrisons improve. I tend to find 4-5 auxilaries in an affected region usualy dampens it down but you can get unlucky even so. If it carries on, bribe them to relations > 25, they...

Re: 'Stable' -> 'Glorious' decadence hit

there are 3 in game options ; a) every time you change age title (mature-glorious-old etc but not a golden age) you shed 50% b) every time you take one of your objectives you shed 20% (think that is the correct value) c) if you get the reform citizenship option, pick the third (ie not give citizensh...

Re: 'Needs' needs explanation :)

you can flip the mapmode to show available trade goods - both natural and manufactured. One resource can cover multiple trades. There is a way to amend the trade screen in the reporting tab so that it reports by region/item, you can then go from that to the map with some ease. Helps to see if someth...
