its WAD, you can set the assault command to attack as you enter a region and then move on. Clearly a bit risky as you may stumble onto a large garrison but a good way to clear out a cluster of poorly defended regions

#2 is WAD, there is a mechanic that means an army weaker than the defenders will stop their movement ('be pushed back') instead of fight etc. As ever, I'd suspect there is a random element to this calculation so it might sometimes happen even if you think you are committing a reasonably strong force

it might be due to low experience, your skirmishers get better in their effect as they gain experience, I *think* they also get better at target selection, so if its early game I'd suggest that is the reason

In a MP context, if you take a peripheral nation (& really that is anything but the Diadochi/Carthage/Rome) then you're not doing it to win in any conventional sense. Whichever of that group comes out on top will win on legacy, I guess if they all stalemate then its feasible to see a wider range...

I *think* that its any regular HI only (this includes any factional tribal units), so excluded are Phalanx/Silver Shields and the various regional HI (such as the Galatians). Obv Rome has its own, unique, upgrade path.

There are a few secondary rules, some for eg require you to have the level III road (if I recall), others also have different preconditions, so you could possibly have picked one that you lack the means to build. More generally its fiddly, suggest a careful read of Grognerd's excellent guide on this...

you have to be glorious/old or decadent. The base legacy then varies if you are tier 1/2/3. The more your govt age the more legacy but the more your govt the more decadence, so you are trading the 2 off. if you look on your nation tab and in the tables you'll see how your legacy is being made up and whether state age is contributing or not. If I recall, you need to be glorious/old or decadent and you get more depending on if you are tier I/II or III. So an old Empire gets more than a glorious tribe....

set your message level to mid/2 and you'll see exactly who is raiding you.

then either take military action (defensive or aggressive), build up your fixed defences or bribe them to go away
