Re: Obstacles vs Chariots

My apologies. Looking over it again, 5) was behind my confusion; one of those rules that hasn't come up often enough in my playing of the game to remember. Thanks as always for the swift response.

It was definitely not 1 or 2. I'll play it again later and return with screenshots.

Re: Obstacles vs Chariots

So in the first epic battle in RoP, I was playing as the Elamites. In melee, my massed archers had the protected +100 vs the Assyrian cavalry, but not vs the heavy chariots. So the chariots were at +100 for the melee in that scenario. Was this a balance decision for the scenario?

Obstacles vs Chariots

I noticed today that foot get protection vs cavalry when behind obstacles, but not chariots. Is this difference intentional?

Re: New units add suggestion

I wouldn't expect the game to change in this respect. As Richard said, it's a design decision. Even if you decided you preferred the shooty interpretation of these units, you would then have to accept that the archers were not reserving ammo for Impact, so instead of defensive Impact of +200/166 vs ...

Lights and Blocking Fallbacks

I think this issue needs to be revisited, as I have had it used against me in two different ways recently in two different games, neither of which felt plausible for the game. 1) Parking lights behind an enemy non-light unit in melee, so it cannot fall back. This seems wrong to me, as, for example, ...

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

You might want to figure out rules around time period, otherwise whoever issues a challenge could get themselves an advantage, by figuring out which time period would give their opponent the worst army list.

Re: 2018 Tournament

SnuggleBunnies (Parliamentarian 45) defeats Dobri_i (Royalist 45) 43-61 A ferocious battle. On my left, flat open ground, well suited for cavalry. On my right, rolling hills, still largely unobstructed. In the center, two hills formed a valley, containing a forest, hedges, and a village. I gradually...

Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

The diagonal turn thing is obnoxious, though I don't see it too often. I suppose there is no simple fix for it.

Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

Although I like the current proposal, it will be yet another thing that advanced players can cudgel newbies with. If detailed combat reports are turned on, a player could make the calculation - well I lost one combat badly and got pushed back, so I have no danger of being pushed back in the next rou...

Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

Could have it so the units sometimes stay stuck in melee but don't push back, like how pike keils work in Pike and Shot.

Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

Sounds great to me. Shouldn't alter the gameplay too much, will look nicer, and frankly, I think warbands and phalanxes won't be made OP by the change. And the need for a breather to rest and reform makes sense as an explanation. Legions might be a little strong, but then they were, weren't they? I ...

Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

No pushbacks on steady units could be an easier solution to program, though I'm unsure as to what the effects on balance would be.
