Re: Oil Use in GS 2.0

With the advent of 2.0 my Germans can keep gas in thier tanks well into 1943 but are running on fumes by the end of the year if I'm not careful. But that is an improvement over prior versions of the mod. Investing in industrialization also increases the Axis oil output a little bit, and little bits ...

Good WW2 speculative fiction

I'm curious after reading the AAR Max is writing and something Stauffenberg said about what might have happened had Germany elected not to launch Barbarossa and the potential for a Cold War between the two countries. Does anyone know of any good speculative fiction on alternative outcomes of WW2, es...

Re: Odds prediction is seriously screwed in late years

I don't worry about odds. I just keep quitting and reloading the game until I get good *results.* If you run the same battles 20-30 times, sooner or later you get really awesome luck! And the best thing about it is that your opponent thinks, "Wow, this guy's like the best general ever!" -_- Speakin...

Re: minor advantage

After trying the minor advantage in a couple of games, I think it would be better if you could just give one side or the other a minor advantage but the way i understand it when you give one side a minor advantage the other side automatically receives a minor disadvantage. I wish we could do away wi...

Re: Can we save the Bear, Richardsd vs Morris (no Morris ple

The problems I experience as Axis are: A) my opponents make me fight for most of my gains in russia in 1941 B) I burn a lot of oil in 41 destroying Russian high value forces, and though I make great gains in taking strategic cities and racking up Russian losses, by 1943 I'm under 200 oil and droppin...

Re: Odds prediction is seriously screwed in late years

I see this frequently on the Eastern Front and I have to admit the odds presented psyches me out and makes me much more cautious.

minor advantage

Just wanted to say that I've a couple of PBEMs going where my opponent and I are each playing Axis with minor advantage and we are having a grand old time. So sneer if you want, purists out there, but it is fun not scraping the bottom of the oil barrel by 1943 for a change. I appreciate having the c...

A little more accurate solution could be to let the # turns needed to use a captured city be dependent upon the hex column. It could be 1 turn for the westernmost cities like Minsk, Vinnitsa etc. 2 turns for cities like Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Vitebsk, Smolensk etc. 3 turns for Rostov, Kursk, Moscow ...

I'd say two things: 1, let's see how this game ends before considering any changes. 2, one game is hardly a representative sample. And besides, most of us aren't elite players and I for one really struggle with playing Axis and never get this far into Russia. I suspect I'm not alone, and so if chang...

That's a great idea amcdonel. I've just recently purchased CEaW (about a week ago) and have been ploughing through the manuals/brochures etc. in preparation for my first game (against the AI initially). I'd find a Wiki format to be extremely helpful for cross-checking things. There are limited opti...

Installment is a great word. Reminds me of when I was a boy and would get installments of the Adventures of Tin Tin and had to wait to see how the latest cliff hanger would be resolved.

Max' AARs are always good fun.

I suspect he is as hard on his computers as he is on his opponents.

Keep at it. it took me several tries before I won as Axis in a PBEM. Here is an AAR done by Ronnie, one of the mod developers, that he did for a game he played as Axis against the AI. http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20355 Many useful strategies and tactics for you to learn from. What happens after you click on the checkbox in the dialog box? Then the unit should get back to the original one. The message simply says that it can't be both para and SS. I guess you added text for both para and SS at the same time? No, I did not add the para text, it wouldn't have occurred to m...

Thank you. What did you do in case I need to do this again?

and, is it possible to make any unit a para drop unit if you add FJR in front of the name.

How about a screen shot of the unit then? Jyri Happy to, but how do I do that? The forum FAQ says, "Images can indeed be shown in your posts. Strange event with para unit

Posted this in tech support but don't know how active that section of the forum is when it comes to GS 2.0 questions. Playing a test game of GS 2.0 as Axis against the AI, and when it was time for me to create SS units I selected my best armor corps and noticed it had two similar but unfamiliar icon...
