Pillaging and raiding revenue

I currently have pirate ships in the black sea, successfully raiding the coastline. I'm not sure how to find out how much they are making?

Re: Charcoal pile penalty wrongly calculated

I think it is taken into account in terms of the overall revenue for the province. Confusing potentially.

Re: Good army composition for broken terrain?

My cretan archers (with shield!) have defeated many an enemy in hand to hand on the flanks (especially in mountains). Oh they sound delightful! How does one access those beauties? My Lydian Archers are quite marvelous, but I think the mountainman trait for them only bumps them up to a 2/4 combat ra...

Re: Trade & Resources guide / strategy?

The trading game is super interesting (and somewhat flawed). Every time I think I definitely know how it works, I find myself surprised that it doesn't quite work the way I thought.

Re: I can only recruit from the province capital

Wad, but has a consequence. Only build the +exp buildings in your regional capital. The ones that unlock units can go anywhere This is the golden advice it seems. If true, makes the whole thing more obvious about what to do. I thought that I should have the archery trainer on Crete, where the arche...

Re: (how not to) Play as Carthage

All this talk of "pillaging"...what does it mean?

Do you take a region, scrap the buildings (do you get money for this?) and then leave it open to be taken back?

(how not to) Play as Carthage

My first game I took Carthage for a run. I am on Turn 82 and currently own most of North Africa west of Egypt, Sicily, Sardinia, etc. but have two BIG problems. 1. I have 3358 Decadence, about 4 times more than any other nation in the game. I think this has arisen mainly just by taking over all thos...

Good work on that guide. While not entirely complete yet, it is super helpful at this stage (having played for about 20 hours)

2 good tips. I am off to demolish my slave market in the capital, (maybe build some more in other places) and change my message settings

Re: Issue with Rebellions

I have a similar problem. As Carthage, I have 36 population in Tunis, 9 citizens and 27 slaves. I just cant find a way to disperse them away from the capital. Very occasionally I get the opportunity to make a 'decision', but 1. I am not really sure it works and 2. If it does work, it doesn't do much...

I reckon I will try Ptolemaic Egypt; it always has loads of food at least, so there is one problem solved.

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Steam Page is live – Whishlist it now!

Steam said it was to be released 30 minutes ago, and had a countdown and everything. But now it says it will be released tomorrow, in another 8 hours. A little frustrating really.

Re: (Army) tech advancement

Having veterans troops is not that straightforward, they have to fight and survive several battles. Being only a participant in a battle gives you a few experience, but being active and even better killing a unit is much better. Veterans when they replace hits can lose some experience, and as their...

Re: (Army) tech advancement

I hope that veterancy is respected, unlike how it has been handled in some comparable games. It occurs in some games that units can be trained at very high levels of veterancy, which is not realistic. In fact, the rate of improvement of training levels is quicker than the generation of veterancy thr...

Re: How do you play heavy artillery ?

"Limbering" artillery sounds nice...for napoleonic field artillery. How do you limber a field-built Trebuchet?

p.s. Like most people here, I think I just avoid it most of the time. It is mostly useless.

Late Roman - Kinda bad?

Late in the Empire the Romans had to cope with cavalry armies and new tactics, so they developed this new kind of infantry with darts, bows, etc. Playing a long campaign with these late Romans, I am struggling to see their attraction. It seems I am constantly outclassed by cavalry armies with a lot ...
