Re: Multiplayer Comings and Goings

Actually, I was wrong earlier. What happens in 3 turns of absence is that the server stops waiting for you, but you are never kicked out of the game (but you can surrender to leave). Oh, that makes it more interesting.... I could play, but I'd have to accept that in those rounds play during my abse...

Re: Does the AI cheat?

There is apparently one good game guide that will be published. you can see a sneak preview here : https://steamcommunity.com/app/1011390/discussions/0/1639790664927808211/ and Pocus comment : "Read it from the first page to the last, and that's a very good guide. He did not copy paste the building...

Re: Multiplayer Comings and Goings

Players cannot join ongoing games presently. It's something we'd like to add as a feature later on, but it does mean some major technical changes, so I cannot yet promise it. Otherwise, you need several skipped turns in a row to be booted out of a game permanently. I was informed that this is 3 tur...

Multiplayer Comings and Goings

I'm probably going to but this as it looks good and I was really looking forward to the multiplayer and creating battles for FOG2. But... FOG2 battles can't be played in multiplayer and this is a shame because it brought a campaign element, with all the economy, supply, recruitment, elements that wo...

I'm following Das Tactic Syracusae Lets play and so far, so good also. But that's the nature of the internet and you tube, you seldom see end of game content. One Empire to Rule them All. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img921/6655/Ft6PK2.jpg Seeing Judea in an amazing second place by end game and ...

Re: Poll on player army choices restriction

I vote no because, whilst I appreciate the downside for the top players, I think the biggest risk is making the lower players play with armies they are unfamiliar with or aren't good with. This risks them getting hammered and this may be something that may deter entry. I don't think this argument r...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

If the AI can play in your absence and a you can take over again on your return then that would be perfect. If that's the case then if there is a space available then I'd be willing to give it a go.

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

It's not this game that concerns me, although it would be nice to be in from the start. It's more the viability of the MP game if you can't delegate for absence or can allow the AI to play for a few turns, in this instance I don't see how a player can be expected to complete a game that lasts 100s o...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

That is exactly correct. Same lobby system as FoG2. 48 hour turns..after the last player has played their turn the turn is played out or it happens at the 48 hour deadline if one or more players haven't submitted a turn. If a player misses 3 turns the AI takes over their country. There will be emai...

Re: Skirmishers!!

I think skirmishers are just another part of the game. I can understand that they can be frustrating to play against, but often they are beatable with the right unit selection and the right tactics. I recently beat Rex's Numidian/Moorish army with the LA Ptolemiac army, it was a close run thing, but...

Re: Fall back cohesion test conditions

how you get a phalanx to move backwards in real life with the din of battle etc , without it being disrupted wherever it was would be a very difficult task. Getting 1000 men with 18 foot pikes to stop at the same time and move backwards then stop at the same time without loosing formation under the...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I agree with Ian and find myself selecting raw troops over average or average over superior. The deciding factor in many battles are the flank charges and more troops generally means more opportunities and the weaker troops generally will hold a couple of rounds which is enough to move to get to the...

I'm loving this too and if there are any MP games going after launch then I'd love to participate. I'm not part of the beta, so will be reasonably inexperienced.

Division B

Morbio (Ptolemaic 55-30 BC) beat RexHurley (Numidian/Moorish 220-56 BC) 67-55

A close encounter that was made even closer by a late chain rout for Rex near the end!

Re: Matrix thread.

You have to pay for the unit's upkeep whether it is active or not and this applies for self-healing and healing in a city. That is true for sure but self-healing can take up to 20 turns (depending on the actual damage), recovering only up to 8 (depending on the actual damage) and healing inside is ...

Re: Matrix thread.

I almost always see it attack with wave after wave of cavalry, all dieing or getting very depleted, without an infantry unit in sight. It will eventually build nomads, but that's when the population and economy is almost dead after constantly building units it soon loses. And does that AI player ha...

Re: Matrix thread.

Yes, it will move some units to the rear, but it's not the majority action. It rarely pauses and uses self-heal, which is economical even if slower. Self-heal is the least-favourable action indeed. If there is a way to heal inside a builder, AI goes for it. If there is a way to recover, AI goes for...
