Is the ability to dismount a freebie or does it cost extra points?
It's a freebie, but of course the unit you get after dismounting would have been cheaper purchased as infantry. So that basically you are discarding some points by dismounting.

Re: Question on armor advantage

Protected has armour value of 50, Armoured 100 and Fully Armoured 300. Armour POA is half of the armour value. The maximum armour benefit is 50 POA for infantry and 100 POA for cavalry so with 300 armour fully armoured units get the maximum 100 POA against every unit currently in the game. Only aga...

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

i am suspecting that light inf vs light inf calculations are weird it could be just me but it seems that light inf often lose combat at 9-15% chances (typical skirm vs skirm situation) also when they lose they seem to fragment way too many times If they don't have close combat capabilities they are...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I don't know if you saw the large stat that I did for the "double drop" thread in the main forum, but that clearly showed that clusters of potentially game-changing "red results" do occur quite frequently and the RNG can favour one side over the other for a prolonged period of time. Having (inadver...

Re: Poll on trialling the use of larger armies.

This Poll is totally biased towards increasing army size because you can submit 2 votes and there are 2 options for increasing army size yet there is only one option to keep army size the same, so if you're happy with the medium size battles the only place to put your 2nd vote is to leave and you m...

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

inefficient units vs super efficient ones is ridiculously hard No kidding. Has anyone considered altering the efficiency of Zealots and the Jewish army list by adding a zealot mob unit similar to warbands? Instead of having......what, 11 possible zealot units, you could instead have a small number ...

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

So in discussions before, you said your design goal was to get geographic and contemporary opponents to perform similarly against each other and that anachronistic or ahistorical match ups were not your primary concern. That is true. With regard to the mixed foot I am concerned re their possible ov...

Re: Streams

I keep confusing Large Stream and Deep Stream. Wouldn't it make sense to just call them Small Stream, Stream and Deep Stream? Maybe, but really small streams would not even need to be shown on the map at all. True. I'm not that familiar with the English waterbody terminology but would 'small river'...

I can understand why you thought that, as the games do have a similar structure, but apparently the engines are different. What I don't know is if Archon is a development of STUB.
It is. Much enhanced, but backwards compatible.

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

In short: I think the mixed Assyrian medium foot could use a slight point increase, Sparabara, I'm not as sure. One thing to consider is that with Persians already being in a good place, they will be getting a drop in their cavalry costs to 66 points from 72 points (this is already in the beta, and...

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

I agree that they would still be a solid buy at 45. I still remember the terror that was Sabir Foot. Impact foot with 50% bows.....lol what? Are there a lot more mixed units coming up in the future? Yes However, their balance might be adversely affected by a change to the cost of 50:50 units,...

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

Personally I don't think the Sparabara is worth less than Assyrian style mix. The sparabaras', not to mention immortals', firepower is very impressive and I think it at least cancels the melee disadvantage as neither unit type shines in impact or melee and largely relies on the ranged attacks havin...

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

The basic cost of Assyrian medium mix is 5 per 100 UnitSize for “protected and average”, so the total basic cost is 5*6 = 30. The bow ability is 2 per 100 UnitSize. The sword ability is 1 per 100 UnitSize. So Assyiran medium mixed is basic + ability = 30 + 2*6*(2/3) + 1*6 = 44. which is not 42, if ...

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

I don't have any experience in multiplayer FOG2, so perhaps you will be inclined to ignore what I'm about to write. However, I think it's important to note that (as far as I know) huge, mostly silent majority of players play single-player only (or mostly). And in my opinion RNG in FOG2 is just abou...
