Espcially when it's an ARM unit with two levels of XP! You want to keep those elite panzer aces alive and strong for your summer '42 push.

Re: BattlevonWar (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
Turn 33. June 2, 1941. Naval british force is already on its way to NA. It will be a question of 2-3 turns when all is ready for taking Casablanca and Oran from the sea and Mareth from land. Early mobilization of Free french forces plus british forces will form a considerable army for further opera...

Re: Zzz???
Maybe you're right-clicking on top of the unit after the move to deselect the unit, ncali. You can right-click on units to change them to and from Zzz. Note that you can do that to and unit even after you've moved some other unit after moving the first unit. A very nice useful feature in 3.0 compare...

Re: Collateral Damage to Cities
I'd still be interested in the details how this works exactly... There are situations whenit is most beneficial to maximize the chance to keep a city "in the red" one more turn. Having only "Some attacks may reduce the city" level of info without more detail takes the fun out of ...

Sweeping and Order of Naval Battle
Hi, The attacker attacks first during a naval combat. Expect that submarine always attacks first. (Or was it that _only_ an ambusing submarine gets to attack first?) Does the "submarine attacks first" rule still hold true in GS3.0 when the opponent does the sweep action? So when you find a...

Re: Collateral Damage to Cities
I believe city always loses 1 step when unit stationed here is being attacked (by ground, naval or non-strategic air unit). I just played a turn in a game where a city was "in red" at the end of my previous turn. This turn the city had repaired itself to orange for the start of my turn. B...

Collateral Damage to Cities
Hi, It's good to be playing a CEaW game after some years of not playing. Please could someone who actually knows how the game's code works or has thoroughly tested the issue share light into which actions cause a city to lose steps? Strategic bomber attack on a city cause step losses for sure regard...

Re: Poll: GS v3.0 status for users
All the buzz here on the forum for the GS 3.0 release mentioned Matrix Games website as a source for the update. That's where I got the update installer that didn't accept my serial number on Thursday. The installer I downloaded today from the Slitherine web site accepted my serial number and update...

Re: Poll: GS v3.0 status for users
Hi S.berg,
Yes, I tried entering the serial number by typing with and without the "-"s and by copypasting taking care that there are no spaces pasted before or after the number. I guess I need to contact Slitherine then. Thanks.

Re: Poll: GS v3.0 status for users
Greetings,
I've a GEaW Gold purchased from Slitherine in Jan '10 with a serial number.
Patches Scrolls download from Matrix Games site stops after asking a serial number. "Invalid serial number" pop ups as the reason

Maybe you found this already, but here goes nevertheless. Alec provided link to the GS 3.0 manual on this thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44171 . The actual update to GS 3.0 is not out yet.
Cheers

Re: Finnnish give up?
Hi, From the GS 2.1 manual: "Finland will sign an armistice with Russia if 2+ cities in Finland / Estonia (Tallinn) are captured by the Allies and less than 6 Axis units are present in Finland." From the GS 3.0 manual: 8. "Increased the number of rail depots / cities needed in Finland...

Re: Plaid (axis) vs Vokt (allies) GS 3.0 beta AAR
Your u-boat sure are nicely picking off PPs from UK and USSR. Looks like you made a good choice with them. Are the two blue dots in Norway on the small map German garrisons? Time to sail them to Germany? Vokt is too busy to with protecting the landings etc. And one gets the 8 PP loading cost back if...

Re: Plaid (axis) vs Vokt (allies) GS 3.0 beta AAR
If the success of the Overlord hangs in the balance and you really are aiming as your main goal to thwart the expansion of the upcoming beachhead, having the subs close by just might worth it. With your 7(?) subs you could potentially block some routes of the second wave of troop transports. Just to...

Re: Plaid (axis) vs Vokt (allies) GS 3.0 beta AAR
Oh the silence before the storm. Imagine the 18 Soviet ARM and MECH blob with the air support either around Minsk or Vinnitsa. Ouch :D Luckily you have the reserves you have. But still with two (or three in the worst case) fronts to come German's blob of heavies in the east will so much smaller than...

Re: Plaid (axis) vs Vokt (allies) GS 3.0 beta AAR
Kudos for taking the time to produce the AAR, Sir! I'd say the panzers and fighters are in a good place right where they are in Egypt for now. Maybe Vokt is planning to move forward in the Med same time as the Soviet winter offensive gets away. It's good to have a force suitable for a counter offens...

Re: Germany at War: Developer's Note
Please could someone shed a little more light on how the "collect experience to get more/new(?) support units" actually works? I guess I'm most befuddled whether the system is basically that each unit needs to collect X exp points to unlock next level of support units available to that sai...

Re: Question about paratroop units
Paras need to be trained/converted in nation's core hexes too, if I recall correctly. Maybe you're trying to convert the units outside their homeland?
