Re: Non-lancer cavalry tactics

Same problem with bow cavalry armies. Behaviour happens because it is estimated that they do not do well in melee. It’s a self preservation tactic. Infantry should be the one pinning the target then the cavalry can cause cohesion drops when they execute a flank attack. Depends on how many infantry y...

Re: A Little Suggestion Regarding the Game's Shadows

To add, can we have shadows shifting as the day goes by? Assuming the standard number of turns corresponds to daylight hours. The shadows follow the light, so if you change the lighting the shadows will change. Cheers Pip Good info so we can slip in a code that adjusts the light per game turn?

User-made epic battles may not have variable difficulty scale. But all the official ones should have.

New version of Silk Road just syncs some stuff.
It’s not updated to Wolves timeline at the moment.
I’m still working on that. Can concentrate on Europe or Central Asia.

The randomness doesn’t change performance though. It’s just cosmetic.

Re: The development of firearms and proximity to nomads

The carbines are probably not matchlocks. This is an example of a Mongolian snaplock (crude flint lock). Though the one pictures is a modern piece, the technology was in use during the game’s timeline. Take note that Tibetan’s are still using matchlocks for hunting these days. https://www.thefirearm...

Re: The development of firearms and proximity to nomads

+1 What Snuggles said. #1 don’t forget that the Chinese employed gunpowder differently. Their firearms may be crude, but the army fielded a lot of artillery. More than contemporary Europeans. #2 is a problem when you force a set-piece confrontation involving horse armies. In reality, they’ll do hit ...

Re: 500 AD global campaign - Year 512 battles are up

It’s certainly better for the Han to fight under Han generals and using Han tactics as opposed to having them fight under Northern Dynasty generals who treat them badly and are not good at infantry tactics. I’m eagerly awaiting for the Fubing troops to be available. So what’s happening to this campa...

Re: Double-Breaks Far too Frequent

Seems like we're all restating things, so I guess I'll do that as well. My view on this is that a crucial aspect of this RNG discussion is unit and army design. We've talked a lot about the example of the massive warband army vs. another. We've discussed elsewhere about the possibility of increasin...

Re: When do you dismount lancers?

I haven’t played a lot of these lists but I would dismount if the terrain is not good for cavalry. Or maybe when the opponent does not have a lot of horses. Lancers are good as anti-cavalry but not good against infantry.

Re: Question on FOG 2 - possibly new

Holy smoke so in Empires your performance in previous tactical (FOG 2) battles is cumulative and your strategic movement and placement of forces (Empires) is also reflected in the tactical combat (FOG 2).. , Empires sounds incredible. Thank you. There is indeed a link if you want to play both games...
