To be fair I don't disagree with your general point that maybe there is a justification for also applying the bonus to hills and mountains ....I was just being a pendant :D
You were being a small necklace? :P

Pedant !!

Re: Ambushes?

That question is one only the developers can answer. I suppose if you think of Buchenwald Forest type ambushes of the Romans there are historically verified examples. Do you know of any army level ambushes in hills and mountains in this era ? I can't think of any off hand.... Emmaus, Lake Trasimene...

Re: Ambushes?

How will ambushes be modeled in FoG:E? They were quite frequent in the time period. Hi Yaitz. This question worries me ....what are you planning ? :D One of the traits that your generals can have is the "Ambusher" trait.I This gives +1 on the die roll on attacks in forested regions to attacking tro...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

Password for the game will be sent to all players by PM that day. Players will have until 0900 GMT on the 18th Jul...

Re: Mercenaries?

Most nations can recruit one type of mercenary infantry and mercenary cavalry, as much as they wish, provided you have a mercenary center (this is to restrict a bit where you can get them as they are produced rapidly). Carthage has instead 5 mercenaries, 1 can be recruited everywhere Carthage is, w...

Re: Invasions by sea question.

If you want to combine both stacks in one, you would need to stop in the coastal sea, then the next turn, the land units would be split up and they would disembark (no combat penalty, we don't consider you do opposed landings in ancient time, you disembark in a place where there is no one and then ...

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

Indeed so.

They start with three rather than the two Samnite regions but it seems Asty is drawn to danger :D

I think if I wanted to be in that general area I would have gone for the Illyrians or even the N.Italian Galli but we are all different !

Invasions by sea question.

Hi I understand that land units can now stack with naval units easily to escort them to a destination. My question is : if Rome for example decides to launch an escorted naval invasion from the mainland into Syracuse does the route of the stack end in the province to be attacked, with the land force...

Re: Mercenaries?

There are indeed mercenaries and manpower poor but cash rich countries like Carthage will need to recruit them, probably in some numbers.

They appear in the regional building slots like regular troops that are available to be built in that area.

Re: Arranging MP Game....Interested ?

For info of all players :

Asty, having received some crucial intelligence about the likely longevity (or rather the opposite!) of his choice of nation (Samnites) has wisely decided he has been called by the Etruscans to lead them instead :D

I have changed the list of players accordingly .

Re: So What about Multiplayer?

Pretty obvious from the above that FOG:E as designed is simply unsuitable for MP FOG2 adaptation. I think what the MP contingent should be pushing for is a FOG2 product, or other specifically designed chassis to warehouse strategically linked FOG2 tactical battles Unless I’m missing something 500 t...

Division B

devoncop (Jewish revolt) beat Xlegione (Hunnic Sabir) 57% to 30%

Swarms of Jewish skirmishers and some doughty performances from the zealots and even the medium foot swamped the better quality Huns who succumbed with just a couple of turns left.

Thanks to my opponent for a tough fight.

Division B devoncop (Dailami/Khorasanian allies) beat rbodleyscott (Frankish/Viking allies) 61% to 52% Aided by some wooded and hilly terrain dotted around the map the Dailami ground out the most unlikely win since David lobbed a pebble in Goliath's direction and hoped for the best ! Re: So What about Multiplayer?

If you are concerned with SP campaign games being able to export battles to FoG 2 then that facility already exists in Empires so you can indeed play those crucial battles out ....just not in MP. I respect your opinion on this but maybe we are just looking for different things in a game. If I want a...

Re: So What about Multiplayer?

The question "why would I buy it when I am still blundering around in Civilisation 5 is a bit like asking " Why would I buy a chess set when I enjoy Monopoly? " To compare the combat systems of FoG Empires and Civilisation 5 in terms of depth and accuracy stretches the definition of the word " compa...
