Re: Adding a little Chaos

On this theme, it would be cool if one could assign one or more of your sides commander(s) ( and all troops under him) to the ai to play. To have some macro control perhaps the player could click on a grid to “attack” or defend, and the ai then carries the actual moves in that general vicinity.

Re: 2018 tournament ending thoughts about the next

Hello chiming in, I liked the team format ( takes the pressure off ) but am not married to it. The main land armies are pretty cool and play quite differently.... a lite campaign could be fun, especially if we played the Japanese armies, and each player used his own clan. So, up for anything!

Re: My big issues with this game

Good points Klay! I would add that the only time I feel light foot is over powered is when they are used as hunter killer groups on the flanks to destroy formed Cavalry( only needing 2-3 shots to force a cohesion test.). It would be hard to prevent players from doing this without layering tons of ru...

Re: My big issues with this game

AP's should take into account what a unit can do in an allotted amount of time. Ok, but if you try to demand that TIME be linear and mean the same thing for all units across the board at all times, you'll end up finding things "wrong" with pretty much every aspect of ANY turn based wargame. It like...

Re: My big issues with this game

In the case of evading skirmishers it's Igo, Yougo, Igo, Igo again Surely there’s a difference between active movement during your turn versus involuntary movement during your opponents? Also by logic if you change this you need change routed units to only move on their turn , pursuers on theirs et...

Re: My big issues with this game

Perhaps there should be a reminder sticker that this is an igo you go game, not real-time, not wego.. :) Does an evading skirmisher that is now frozen and cannot move on its active turn add realism or game play value? For me, no it does not. If it was worth changing the rules, better to have them ju...

Campaign: ditches

I was playing the Ashurbanipal camapign and in battle three my intel indicated I was grossly outnumbered by the Elamites and suggested I dig in. I was surprised when I actually got the ditches to cower behind. Had never had that happen yet. Any way, the ai still treated it like a standard open battl...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

Well, Empires has been designed as a standalone game, so it doesn't need FOG2 to play as intended. The FOG2 integration aims to fit into that model, "translating" between the two games in a way that's realistic, accurate, and balanced. Balancing work is still needed obviously (as we are just about ...

Re: Variety of units

Ahh, so in the AJE engine , units were containers for “elements”. It sounds like these elements will translate to the Fog2 tactical units, or something similar? Any hints on what kind of “strategic” traits units might have? Light Cavalry foraging / raiding scouting etc as an example? There's no "co...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

I get why a larger timescale is utilizided based on the map scale and Area movements, but I too like the concept of turns representing less time.

Seasonable would be ideal, and would help nudge RBS into adding snow and monsoons into FOG

Re: Depth of ranks: Did ancient commanders vary them? Should it be included?

I'm not really well read on ancient warfare but I do recall reading some commanders reducing the ranks of their men based on the situation (e.g. Caesar at Pharsalus). Would it make sense to implement this in game, maybe splitting a unit of 8 or 16 models into half that? Similar to the option of dis...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

Interesting comments. My opinion is just because it hasn’t to date been done WELL, doesn’t mean it can’t be, ( total war games are horrid , I loved cog though) plus the real problem is the expectation that the developer will in effect create 2 full games for the price of one... in this case we have ...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

Don´t know if I am the only sceptic, but I´m pretty sure if you link 2 games, balance goes out of the window. 1. If you are good in the campaign mode, it will make for dull battles. 2. If you are good at winning difficult battles, it will unbalance the campaign. You could say that about any game th...

Re: Field of Glory: Empires Unveiled!

Hi gents, Pleased to meet you! We aim for 16 players MP game, but that's still in heavy testing. Lets be honest, the difficulty is moving from 2 players to n. So once we are past 2, there is no theoretical limit, but 16 is a large number! You definitively can have naval battles and we have naval mo...
